Brexit: Boris Johnson says Royal Navy to stay on patrol in Jersey as French fishing boats leave after row

France has threatened to cut off Jersey's electricity as it says fishing licences are being granted with conditions not agreed.

The UK has sent two Royal Navy ships to Jersey "as a precaution" - HMS Severn and HMS Tamar, which could be seen patrolling the outskirts of Jersey on Thursday morning.
A number of French fishing boats could be seen arriving at the harbour of St Helier, with more not far behind.

Like when the UK – while it was still a member – threatened Spain with war, after a Spanish police patrol boat had accidentally crossed into the waters of Gibraltar?

Truth be told, I'm quite amused.

Can't help but be reminded of all that talk in Britain about the "Fourth Reich" and Germany coming to take away the tea of honest Englishmen … only for it to turn out that the EU is actually the fourth French Empire!

What a silly pissing contest, though. Look up the numbers, how many (or rather: how few) jobs hinge on the fishing industry in either England or France.
