Politics EU Politics and News

France's military forces have been "used and abused" for several decades. Not only the many "OPEX" deployments abroad but also the "vigipirate" and the other deployments in mainland France. For long years many parts of the national territory have been like cut out of the body of France. Places where the rule of law is simply absent. Parts of the political left are definitely blind when it comes to Islamist radicaIization and separatism. The way Macron solved the "Gilet Jaunes" protests was extremely cynic and without any regards for valid dissent and criticism of government policies.

I can't say that I blame the retired officers for signing this open letter, for serving officers it might get a little dicey though. The reaction of the whole political class is disgusting imho. Comparison with the Putsch is simply ridiculous and the left is going through the roof and heaping it onto Macron to force his hand. Maybe the whole political class should ask itself why "La Grande Muette" has chosen to speak up.
There is not much new to what these retired military officers are saying. And a lot of it is true of course. I dislike show biz people pushing their agenda because of their status and popularity , so I am not a big fan of the doomsday political message these retired officers send while using their former military status.

I think the police has more to say about what is going on, and they are actually working and suffering from the budget cuts and the general atmosphere. These guys were active when the military was doing well and well funded.

I remember arguing quite fiercely against some users back on TheMess about the legitimacy of the Gilets Jaunes. Not only on that forum but also on FB even with some relatives for whom they were the plague and why not even the SA, or SS literally reincarnated.

No, they were firstly mostly hard working people from all walk of life and not only Marine le Pen voters.

Of course the medias lied, there were some photos stolen from social medias to make them look bad like some antisemitic graffitis over the Parisian périphérique and bridges.

Then and therefore this movement needed to die whatever it takes. Christopher Castener then minister of interior (not immune of being a shady individual) declared war on them and Macron and his ego suffered the crisis.

I’d guess getting your hand amputated by a police grenade or getting your eyes hit by those anti riots cops cooled off the riots after a while. But hey they deserved it. « Peaceful protests » (that no one listen to) are a « right ».

It was also long proven that the people that desecrated the Arc de Triomphe were suburban thugs who didn’t give two S**t about the gilets jaunes and their protests.

Now onto the generals and their diatribes. I can’t blame them. It’s important for the medias though to exaggerate their narrative and sum it up as a call for a putsch or coup, whether for these brain dead Anglo medias or the French one.

Its convenient because who wants a military coup in Western Europe a few weeks past the one in Myanmar?

It's going to end as a very convenient political tool anyway.

The government labeled them as borderline traitor and putshists, bathing in the same water as the LePenists.

These generals, or former/retired generals, are calling for strong actions from the government. That won't happen. It "could" be feasible, technically, but from a practical point of view it is not even conceivable. Cracking up the eat from 3 all the way up to 10? Yeah... have fun with the backlash!

One can also note the convenient timing of the whole "controversy" it created. Well... created... yes and no; the problem has been there for a very long time, but that letter from the generals updated it, so to speak. But it makes it even more obvious the elections are approaching and every body is getting ready.

I’m currently watching the debate between André Bercoff and Nicolas Domenach on LCI.

As usual I agree with André Bercoff who does have some cojones. He’s not even a Lepenist, but I stand by his point. 40 years of left and right politics in France. Name whoever you want, Chirac, Sarkozy, Hollande and Macron that mostly accomplished very few but it seems to be getting only worse regarding crime, terrorism and unemployment.

I realize the situation is quite tricky. As a politician you cannot please everybody. I get that. Of course behind every immigrants isn’t hidden a fanatic Islamist looking to cut throat.

If I had easy solutions, I’d announce a run for the presidency in 2022, but I don’t. Xavier Bertrand is an interesting person, and probably the only worthy one for next year.

Marine le Pen? I doubt she can win, if she does; after all why the hell not. At this point I want anyone but a leftie particularly what’s left of the socialists, macronist, the far left and the worst of them all: the greenies.

I stand by the police 100% with what happened with the yellow vests, just like I stand 100% behind them when they deal with thugs from the suburbs throwing molotov cocktails in their vehicles or firing mortars. I only think they should move back to water cannons and stop the LBD' s. So many police officers were wounded in these times where they had to stand against crime, terrorism, and violent looting by people who were yellow vests 2nd generation.

The yellow vests movement quickly became hijacked by extreme left wing activists...violent and active. No police officer chopped anyone' s hand off, picking up tear gas cannisters will however rip your hand away.

There is a middle class that is forgotten, overtaxed, annoyed by the insecurity, and whose problems are not taken care of but they left early on when they saw the thugs who piggy backed their way in.

It’s about the same thing occurring anywhere these days. Any protests is hijacked by some AntiFa or black bloc looking to cause mayhem.

Would disagree with the part that no cops ever did wrong though re: the yellow vest. Maybe one shouldn’t pick up a grenade which is fairly stupid but those that got their eyes gouged out by the police probably were targeted.

Even the UN and some Human rights NGO then stated that the handling of the YV was that of a third world nation.

The polarization game has already started anyway, with the first obvious move: going after Marine and his party.

I'm sure she would gladly follow that call for an "uprising", but would she do it? She took her sweet time with the YJ movement (in fact everybody took their time). She won't commit if she senses it will burn her.

The LBD has to go. It' s too dangerous I agree.

Basically some people want a revolution in France, and not only in France. But it' s not the best way

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out (in)
Don't you know it's gonna be
All right?
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan

You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We'd all love to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
All, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all right
All right, all right, all right, all right, all right

Peace out! :D

This sounds not good but as you said it was left unattended.

You can simply not put all people of similar worldviews together, thats kind of an invitation for shenanigans coupled with our welfare systems this is the perfect breeding ground for radicals.

In our kids school there are now lots of refugees and immigrants. And while most are ok there are some that urgently need their issues adressed.

Oh well, "good news", the signatories of the letter have been identified and "exemplary sanctions" will be taken against them.

In a surprising twist, it appears the "Greens" also support the letter.

Marine and her followers, ok that's absolutely conceivable. In fact it would have been weird if Marine didn't support the letter. (though she didn't support the YV, but that's probably because there was no way she could have handled them)

But the Greens?

Micron's France gets smaller by the day ? ? ?

That‘s why, with a tiny exception at Vianden, our border with Germany is only formed by rivers and creeks. It was the only way to reign in the Luxembourgian Farmers. Berlin and Munich would be part of Luxusbourgh by now!!!

The UK has sent two Royal Navy ships to Jersey "as a precaution" - HMS Severn and HMS Tamar, which could be seen patrolling the outskirts of Jersey on Thursday morning.
A number of French fishing boats could be seen arriving at the harbour of St Helier, with more not far behind.

Uproar in Hungary over plans for €1.5bn Chinese university in Budapest

13 April 2021 | By David Rogers and Rod Sweet

A political row has broken out in Hungary over plans to build a Chinese university campus in Budapest after a report claimed it would be financed almost entirely by a Chinese loan, built by a Chinese company and would replace a major accommodation complex promised to Hungarian students.

A lot is going on besides CCPs puppet Orban blocking a EU Hong Kong declaration, much moves in the other direction.

EU ‘suspends’ ratification of China investment deal after sanctions

The European Commission has said that efforts to ratify a massive investment deal with China have been in effect suspended after tit-for-tat sanctions were imposed over China’s treatment of its Uyghur population in March.

Italy seems to be annoyed by China too. IVECO takeover by China is halted from the very top.
