Politics The COVID-19 pandemic news and discussion.

Issue is that in this time wgen people are suffering ans dying, nobody understand why the eurobond system is refused by an handle of countries, always the same (Germany, Austria, Netherland and a fourth one)
It is not only PIIGs asking for this mechanism of relief, Belgium and Ireland are OK for example.
So yes denying them hurt Germany image. Of course some politician will play that token. But it is worst than that, it raises anger against Germany and feed europhobic moves

That's my worry mordoror . Europe's favourite bogey man the Brits are not there any more which really de stabalizes the whole dynamic . The UK was always happy to play the black sheep( which suited a lot of countries such as Germany / Ned etc) as we were never that bothered about mainland Europe anyway . Without us there it could get nasty with countries unable to handle the bad man moniker and returning the gesture .

It is not about finding a scapegoat. Its vice versa now the CCP is finding a scapegoat through official channels.

Coronavirus: China accuses US of causing panic and 'spreading fear'

Beijing has suggested that coronavirus was brought to China by the US military and has claimed that Washington has something to hide.

“It might be US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent!” tweeted Zhao Lijian, the foreign ministry spokesman. “Make public your data! US owe us an explanation!”

Its just disgusting from this idiotic regime. I just don't have to post their massive whining supported by local idiots regarding travel restrictions.

Regarding these facts I don't trust them either with their numbers.

This doesn't take away the mismanagement (greed and shortsightedness) of local govs worldwide and not recognizing the severity and acting accordingly.

I also put much blame on some experts with their downplaying in calm voices until too late. And the undiscerning politicos naturally.

The blame game serves nobody I agree, I just wanted to show the true face of this regime manipulating facts and deceiving its population to save face.

Must be horrible to be in China right now as a (western) foreigner, the article I mentioned above also spoke of massive repercussions towards foreigners fostered by the gov. and not just some isolated idiots like over here.

A fun fact: the neigbours of my parents well into their 70s just returned a few weeks ago from China, visiting their daughter.

Nobody ever said bad Chinaman, even only Trump calling it the China Virus lead to daily outrage. Just don't connect it to us - buhh our main concern.

rant over
Tit for tat
Go back and browse the various alt news in the west, the forum, the tweets, Quora and such
It goes from Chinese bio weapon leaking from their lab to false flag operation to a maneuver to hide how much their economy is hurt by Trump commercial war to biological war against the West.
The blame game is just a bit of napalm on the bond fire, it keep the tensions at high level and waste mental and material ressources that would be useful elsewhere

We have already had the monkeys in Bangkok and the ducks in Paris.
It's time for something bigger and British:

French medical staff being harassed, assaulted, insulted, etc...

So now they are under the protection of "security personnel" tasked to escort them.

As for the "blame game", well, no, just facts.

Finland is the fourth. Interestingly enough, only Germany's image is "hurt".

And I'm sorry, but I'm not buying it. The people who want Eurobonds now are the same people who've always wanted them. And they wouldn't save a single life. Bonds need to be issued, someone needs to be contracted to go through the formalities and find buyers; it takes many weeks of preparation for a country to take on debts. There are much quicker instruments to aid the economies of Italy, Spain and France.

With friends with that, who needs ennemies ?
Thankfully we are not in a full blown war because it could be worse

Transl :
A French order for masks diverted to the United States on a Chinese tarmac

"The order with payment has been made, that is to say that the masks are manufactured and pending in China, assured the elected official. The difficulty we face is the routing. […] This morning on the tarmac [at the airport], in China, a French order was bought by the Americans in cash, and the plane which was to come to France went directly to the United States. Faced with these problems, I am trying to secure the goods so that […] they are not seized or bought by others. ” At the cost of a delay of several days in delivery.

"Indeed, masks are becoming scarce, and Americans buy them wherever they find them, no matter what the price, it was confirmed, on condition of anonymity, in one of the regions victims of the process. They pay double the cash before they even see the goods. We can not afford it, we do not advance anything and we pay at the reception. Obviously, we have signed commitments with producers, but we are not in a normal situation ... In addition, in recent days, China has itself blocked a number of deliveries. It’s a race against the clock to find a producer that is reliable, and then a way to ship the order to us. ”

Awaiting the usual "it's business, baby" .....

Still good news piling up

The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that the global coronavirus pandemic may trigger a “looming food crisis.”

While emphasizing that disruptions to the food supply are currently “minimal” and that “there is no need for the world to panic,” the FAO said that the global food system is likely to be affected over the next several weeks by the impacts of the COVID-19.

“We risk a looming food crisis unless measures are taken fast to protect the most vulnerable, keep global food supply chains alive and mitigate the pandemic’s impacts across the food system,” the agency wrote on its website.

The FAO said that border closures and disruptions to global trade are already creating logistical bottlenecks and that quarantines and shelter-in-place ordinances are keeping farmers and food processors from processing agricultural products, particularly fruits and vegetables. Shortages of farming inputs like fertilizers and veterinary medicines can further impact food production. All of these factors are likely to cause “disruptions in the food supply chains” in April and May.

‘A food security timebomb’

The agency warned that “the consequences could be drastic” if the number of COVID-19 cases were to rapidly increase in the 53 countries that are home to more than 113 million people who already face severe food insecurity. The pandemic could prove particularly catastrophic in those areas that are already hit by other food-related crises, like the countries in sub-Saharan Africa that are contending with vast swarms of desert locusts that are devouring crops and threatening food security.

Boy, those lying sacks of sh*t. No surprise there.

Clearly, the U.S. government’s response to this threat was not nearly robust enough, and not enacted anywhere near quickly enough. Most European governments weren’t prepared either. Few governments around the world were or are prepared for the scale of the danger. We can only wonder whether accurate and timely information from China would have altered the way the U.S. government, the American people, and the world prepared for the oncoming danger of infection.

Blame game for political gains, remember?
well, clearly it cant be my fault, I just have to point at someone else....

As long as it stays at mutual finger pointing, I hope no-one is dumb enough to escalate it beyond that.

Sure China made some Fcuk ups, so did the rest of the world. Now China I think tries to help, and I'm sure once millions of masks etc turn up in UK, we will be past the worst, and will gift them onto the poorer countries. I'm also sure China will improve their market hygiene....maybe get some help in from WHO to monitor.

In the UK the politicians have been fairly good at working together. That may change once the peak passes. Overall my view is that so far, the UK gov has done ok.
