Interestingly enough, even radical oppositional politicians like Marine Le Pen strongly condemned the attack. Good. Violence has no place in politics. And what many people also don't understand is that incidents such as this only increase the disconnect between leaders and constituents and dissuades good people from joining politics. There are plenty of people who volunteer for jobs where they risk to loose life so I'm sure the presidential position with much better overall condition and pay isn't going to stay vacant for long
