Last news I have and trust:

Sudzha is cleared of Russians apparently for good. The back and forth battle to take Martynovka leading to Sudzha was won by the Ukrainians and seemingly now well in their hands

Some reconnaissance troops might have entered the suburbs of L'gov where the big rail junction is

The Korenovo town is still held by Russians but lots of conflicting info on what's going on

The Ukrainians had a major setback in Giri (bad intel) on their way to Belitsa. They were ambushed there are casualties and destroyed equipment.

Footage of a head-on battle in Girya, Kursk Oblast, between a Ukrainian armored personnel carrier BTR-4E and a Russian armored personnel carrier BTR-82A. Both combat vehicles are armed with 30-mm 2A72 cannons. In general, the combat vehicles are approximately equal, but the Russian BTR-82A opened fire first, which decided the outcome of the battle, the BTR-4 caught fire. It is worth noting that, according to all the facts of the use of equipment in battles in Ukraine that have been shown over the past 2 years, it was important who first noticed the enemy, this decides the outcome of the battle.

A Polish analyst claimed yesterday that the Ukrainians had taken 25-30% of the Kursk Oblast. Certainly, it's a big thing
The critical town is Sudzha, as there's a gas pumping station so that they can put some extra pressure on ol' Vik and Robo.
Also, they cut off a critical railway line that is used to deliver supplies to the RuZZian troops in Donbas.
150,000 RuZZians have been evacuated and many of them fled to Moscow.

Due to the frontline not being contiguous, the Ukrainians can shoot at RuZZian planes and helicopters flying randomly.

In fact, the Ukrainian 22nd Mechanized Brigade was trained in Poland and equipped with Polish tanks, IFVs and SPGs:

Putler has to be taking a LOT of meds to keep from having a stroke right now. Same for Gerasimov and Shoigu!

can someone please explain to me the reason why Ukraine pushed into Russia? Yes I know there is a war between both. But I am trying to make sense of it.

are you being sarcastic?
there are about a half-dozen or so videos posted in this thread on that very subject, as well as the learned and erudite musings of our fellow commenters here...

I mean it seems to be the battle tested paradigm, of hit the enemy at the time and place of your choosing. hit them as they try to respond, dig in and then attrit them as they attack your dug in positions... but who knows.
they are trying to force a situation where they have the initiative, rather than the russians.

1. Calm down, I don't live on here and this is a rather large and continuously updating thread.

2. I am asking for what the strategic value in doing so is because I don't see it since I too am an erudite.

So you have speculation, got it.

Don't piss on me my friend, I am not your enemy and I asked a benign question that no rational person would be slighted by.

And you didn't need to quote me twice to communicate to me, some with vitriol, some with callous remarks.

Ukraine decided to help Putin unite Russia with Ukraine

On a serious note:
-main rail junction
- gas pipeline for a lot of russian industry
- pushing evacuees to Moscow, that will bring the war to the people in Moscow
- bargaining power

Just pick one

Makes sense. Thanks. However I wouldn't have done it unless it was a feint to draw away manpower so they could concentrate on an actual attack elsewhere.
