Trump likes to keep his 'enemies' confused about what he wants, standard negotiating tactic.

And his friends as well.

But as a starting trial balloon it does have the advantage of being technically possible. In practical terms, who knows. Not sure I would set my cooperation rate at 5 to 1 though.

I don't understand why the US hasn't just emptied the racks at least as far as second line stuff. I understand we still need for our own defense, but one of our main threat actors is burning down their stocks faster than we are burning down ours.

Go hard, go long, or go home. I would rather we don't execute option 3 (again) after witnessing however many hundred thousand more casualties in Ukraine. I would prefer option 1.

It's a relatively reasonable proposal and if it turns out to be true (pardon my skepticism), my view on Trump as a diplomat would improve. One major problem remains with Trump's (alleged) concept, though. If Russia doesn't want to negotiate, Trump would give Ukraine a massiv boost. Alright. If Ukraine doesn't negotiate, Trump would cut America's support to Ukraine. Alright. But what happens if both parties refuse to negotiate?

Apparently, America still has some 400 Patriot launchers in long-term storage. They'd be obsolete at this point, given their production date (late 1980's, early 1990's). I doubt they're actually needed by the US at this point, and they'd have to be upgraded anyway if put into service. Might as well donate them to Ukraine and buy replacements. If further donations would be too unpopular due to the attached price tag, Uncle Sam should make his European allies an offer for sale. Germany has already bought HIMARS launchers from US stocks for Ukraine. Might as well buy Patriot launchers as well. The Ukrainians say they need at least 7 more batteries to improve their situation and protect their cities (which are now protected at the cost of the field army). That should be absolutely do-able.

Strange, the way all of those bodies are piled up in one place.
The bodies were already stripped of equipment, so possibly moved closer together. Also as the ambush reportedly went the MRAPs were taken out by IEDs followed up by a VBIED. Anyone clambering out of those Chinese knock-offs of proper MRAPs would be a sitting duck especially as those wrecks were the only real cover around.

And this happened right next to the border of their close ally Algeria

Former Prigozin allies were among the casualties, so I wouldn't be surprised if the rebels were informed by russia beforehand and the mercs sent on a very specific route to make sure they drove straight into the ambush so Putler & co could get rid of some people without getting their own hands dirty.

Not really, it is pretty standard to centralize all friendly and enemy dead and wounded for processing/exploitation, and as Mike has pointed out they have already been stripped of any kit which supports this. In this case it also has a much greater PR/propaganda effect to illustrate the Mass Cas in the situation by them all being in the same shot rather than a series of images/videos that could be argued are from different events.

In addition to the Tu22 lost, they also lost a su34 which crashed on its own. And a few helicopters.

Smells off massive maintenance problems...coupled with all their stuff designed for low utilisation rates before overhaul, their long time attrition strategy towards Ukraine will face an obstacle here.

MTBO was increased to 1000 hours from 500 for the AL31.

Can now show it's feasibility in a protracted war.

18 % interest rate and 9% of GDP on military spending, sounds healthy.

The best part was the guy getting his head stomped. I don't blame the policeman for stomping his head, they need to do more of it here in the US. Our best police forces are usually State Police like Arkansas or Florida and even Georgia. They Patrol our interstates thru their sectors and if they were not there it would be a convoy of drug runners, just unbelievable how bad it really is here.

Most of the civil war photos of the dead were all staged after the battle, usually laid out for burial in a long line. One of the most famous shots was at Rocky Top where one soldier had a rifle placed in his hands under cover of huge rocks, totally fake shot and well documented. Anything to sell a newspaper even back then.

“The enemy is now exhausted but not destroyed,” he said, pointing to the fact that Russia still has complete air superiority over Ukraine.
“The F-16s are combat aircraft from 1980s and 1990s and their capabilities are worse than the most modern Russian combat aircraft,” he said, adding that the newest Russian jets would likely prevail in an air battle with the F-16.
And the myth of the russian air force is still alive thanks to "experts".

I remember the "outmatched" F-16s going up against the "superior dog fighter" the Serbian Mig-29s. Blown out of the sky before they even realized they were already in combat thanks to AMRAAM.

Russia is launching bombs from 60km inside it's own territory because otherwise they get shot down. At best it's a favorable air position, but in effect more often than not aerial parity. Neither can penetrate the other's air space with manned jets without incurring crippling losses and neither can intercept drones and missiles at a high enough rate.

The F-16s will enable the continuation of HARM, JDAM and AMRAAM strikes as the Su-24 and Su-27 become scarce.

The F-16s being donated are mostly MLU standard that were modernized in the early 2000s. Except for the Su-35, Su-57 and a few upgraded Su-34 and Su-30 every other aircraft in the VSK definitely has older and inferior radar and avionics than these NATO surplus jets. And those aircraft are critilically endangered unicorns due to high losses, poor maintenance and artisan workshop level production rates.
