Czech Republic "finds" 800,000 artillery shells. Netherlands invests €150m, Germany, France, Canada and Lithuania are also part of the program which is unrelated to the EU program.

Delivery is expected within several weeks.

* In before russia claims it destroyed everything later tonight *

The 800,000 shells is only a bandaid for the EU's "1 million shells a year" goal which won't be reached. European armaments industries aren't gearing up, pension funds refuse to invest in arms for ideological reasons.

The only way to reach this goal imo is to bring back government arsenals.

This is a bad idea no matter how much russia deserves it. Investors will lose faith in the dollar and euro, will think twice before investing somewhere their investment can be taken from them at will. OPEC will move away from using the dollar as it's standard currency. This would cause immense long-lasting damage to our own economies to an extent that it might well make the $300b look like change.

There are resilient laws to protect investments. Actually under the proceeds of crimes act they can take everything now from a private citizen. One case a boss had a worker on an oil tank welding.. boom. Now everything he owns they can take. So why not Putins chronies.

Shouldn’t ukr take Russia to The Hague, for ‘damage’ to their country.

Then start with Russia state assets.

I’m pretty sure revolutions etc have appropriated foreign owned assets in the past?

Or we reclaim assets from 1917 Russia?

Pretty cool video. Funny how that have footage of hundreds of rounds going downrange, but none of the 4 drones they claim to have destroyed.

I remember the Russians beating their chest when they seized the small ship of Ukraine and arrested the crew when they invaded a few years ago. They aren't feeling so froggy today with some serious loss of naval power.

That is a possibility. The Dutch state has several suits running against russia regarding the downing of MH-17. As a part of these the state did an inventory regarding the costs incurred, currently a minimum of €166m. The government was in talks with russia, but these were cut off in 2020. Due to the lack of cooperation of russia the process is estimated to take at least two decades. Seizing assets is not seen as a desirable option (presumably because Dutch entities still have a lot of money tied up in russia). Russia has the option to seize a lot of valuables too, the only winner of both sides devaluating each other's economies would be China.

My point exactly, most revolutions aren't exactly known for the economic stability they leave behind or the trust of the markets in whatever Bond-esque villain takes power. A revolution isn't quite what I'd call a confidence instilling form of governance. An impartial legal process is.

For example the Dutch state has for a long time been able to borrow money at a very low interest rate, even to the point where it actually earned money by borrowing. All because investors know the Dutch state will always repay it's debts. Countries like Spain or Italy? Not so much. Quite heavy interest rates because investors take more of a risk.

That's just one example of what foreign confidence in your economy does.

Small maneuverable targets at high speed, poor optics (new ship, lol), lack of a tracking system for the gun?/not able to be used at night?/unable to track at close range?

Also AK-74 with mk.1 eyeball =/= Hitrole-NT gyro-stabilized 12,7mm with a fire control computer and FLIR.

Helicopters seem to have a better record at destroying naval drones. Close in the russian weapons systems are of the Spray & Pray variety.

I guess this is why our navy helos can carry like 15 missiles, with a to-a and anti small boat with the same missile. It’s all about saturation. But makes you wonder why Russia is at sea in the dark, in a small sea. Why not wait till dawn, give your gunners a chance. Oh well.

Getting interesting….
