INS Tarkash undertook a PASSEX with NZ Navy ship HMNZS Te Kaha on 04 Apr 25. This Bridges of Friendship exercise included cross-boarding, Sea Rider exchange, tactical manoeuvres and validating communication procedures. The PASSEX was conducted while INS Tarkash was mission deployed for participating in the New Zealand led CTF 150 Joint Focused Operation ANZAC Tiger from 27 Mar 25 to 04 Apr 25. The exercise provided an opportunity to exchange Best Practices and further enhance bilateral maritime Interoperability.

Currently deployed to the Middle East Region as part of New Zealand led Combined Task Force 150, HMNZS Te Kaha is operating 24/7 to meet the demands of the mission.
On board, 188 personnel have assigned primary roles - many have secondary responsibilities as well.

Joint Terminal Attack Controllers from 16th Field Regiment recently trained alongside members of 1 NZSAS and A-10 pilots from the United States Air Force’s 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron during an advanced training exercise in Nevada.
The focus was on using modern digital systems to improve Close Air Support – where aircraft support ground troops during combat. The goal was to boost coordination, accuracy, and the safety of both air and ground forces in live-fire scenarios. Missions tested fast targeting, safe airspace management, and the smart use of air-delivered weapons in a challenging environment.

The newest cohort of potential Army officers have been put through their paces during Exercise Nemesis in the Waiouru Military Training Area.
The resilience and determination of 54 Officer Cadets was tested as they completed various tasks with a physical and cognitive aspect that required problem-solving or the requirement to perform a military-orientated task.
Successful cadets will graduate at the end of this year as a Commissioned Officer and move into their selected field.

Battlefield success relies on communication and coordination between the frontline units, and those providing critical support – that’s where 2nd/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment comes in.
Recently, soldiers from the Regiment's Fire Support Group (FSG) participated in Exercise Sangro River at Tekapo Military Training Area where they focused on live-fire training, weapon handling, accuracy, command and control.
