Movie / TV What's the last movie you watched

Brotherhood of the Wolf / Le pacte des loups

Accidentally stumbled on a German Blu Ray copy of the movie in my game collection. Not sure how it ended up in my possession. Fortunately, there was an English sound track. SO, just as ridiculous, campy, and incredibly entertaining as it was almost 20 years ago. Highly recommended

Loved that movie. I owned two different DVDs of it at one point and somehow seem to have lost/lent out both of them. Might have to head to amazon for the blu-ray.

The Rhythm Section

Wanted to like it because I like the main cast (Blake Lively, Sterling K Brown and Jude Law) but just wasn't very good. Only cost 99 pence as an amazon rental so think I can live with it - if I'd paid the normal 3 or 4 pounds, I think I'd have been annoyed.

Flight of the Intruder (1991)

Saw this for the first time about 3 weeks ago. Consider myself a bit of an aviation buff but totally missed this one for most of my life. Actually a pretty cool movie. Not exactly award winning stuff but focuses on one of the less glamorous (but very interesting) air combat roles and what happens when a crew goes rogue to prove a point. Don't take it too seriously and you'll have Top Gun-esque fun.

Trying to work my way through "After the Fox" with Peter Sellers Victor Mature for the second time in about 15 years..

I really like Sellers, but sometimes he's almost too embarrassing to watch. He really pillories human foibles.

I didn't really enjoy it as much as other members of this forum. First our was OK, but the second hour of the movie was very confusing to me and as not as entertaining as the first part.

However, I'm not really a fan of this genre.

I've been watching a series, its really good, its the end of the world, a deadly virus is circulating(started by some evil chinese), there have been quite a few episodes, and it seems to be on every channel, right now the 'mericans are all shooting each other, I may have missed the episode that explains why.

Honestly, I was wary because this is an American parody on uniquely ridiculous European thing and secondly because this is a Will Farrell movie. But it turned out GREAT. Highly recommended, even the penis joke was funny. However, if you are not familiar with what Eurovision Song Contest is, you probably won't enjoy this movie as much as someone who does.

Okay watch this yesterday, I was really excited and keen on watching but then the overall movie was a bit disappointing. It is definitely one time watchable,. I really like the Visual effect but I feel it could have been better used to tell the other member story too. The sudden voice of the Nazi sub voice on the mic was like the devil speaking and Tom Hank supposed to be a religious person there. The story lack in appeal and I guess TomHank did hard to pull it put then he can't be the lone person to pull it off. The plot is disappointing action is cool but wish It didn't end the way it should. Well 6.5/10 from me.

with Charlize Theron, Chiwetel Ejiofor and a bunch of actors I'd never heard before
A group of immortal guns-for-hire becomes the target of big pharma trying to harvest the secret of their longevity.

This flick is to be filed under 'an intriguing concept wasted'. The cast is good, but that's about it. The cast sans Theron, by the way. I cannot even begin to comprehend how the same actress who gave us the most convincing female bad-ass in cinema since Ellen Ripley (i.e. as Furiosa in Mad Max) was physically capable of turning in such a plank-of-wood performance. She does her action scenes well, but other than that…

The plot is more holes than substance. The dialogues are bland and though they pretend to be sophisticated they utterly fail to explore the burden supposedly borne by the protagonists.

And dear me, the woke is strong in this one. There's a scene where one of the gay protagonists when mockingly asked: "What, is he your boyfriend?" literally delivers a monologue chiding the baddie for not understanding the essence of true love.

I swear, moviemakers do not know how to nuance anymore. They could've organically included a gay couple by just contenting themselves with a scene that occured previously in the movie where all the heroes lie scattered about a train car sleeping and the two dudes are nestled against each other like it's no big deal. Because it is no big deal. But by God, if Hollywood doesn't make it a big deal!

Another example: The movie has a segment showing a female engagement team in Afghanistan. My first thought was: Cool, that's never been portrayed before in a movie! And then they ruin it by way of the most blatant oppression olympics-style casting in years: a black woman, an Asian woman, a lesbian and a transgender-looking something. Hoorah, Marines!

The setpieces are okay-ish. The soundtrack is terrible and screams "artsy director" at full volume. But the most egregious part is: the movie is just dull. The director plainly has no sense for pacing.

Jesus Christ. I didn't even make it past the thirty minute mark.

★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 2/10

Everything you just said @muck, I've been putting off reviewing this blatant "woke" piece of gender fluid excreta. I gave up at about the same point as you and on the same grounds.?

I just watched the Old Guard, too. The subliminal wokeness is almost De Rigueur nowadays. Like Muck says, plot is full of holes, but the cast is pretty good and I found the regenerating interesting and don't turn it off when the credits start, because there is an extra scene.

I'd give it 2/4 stars.

In other news, I saw The Outpost is now on demand. I was really hoping to see this one in the theater though.
