I've watched the entire footage on reddit. It's a tough watch, horrible and strangely wholesome at the same time. That footage should air on every channel in the world, because it tells you all you need to know about this war.

The footage begins with a Russian soldier going to the ground. Wounded by a drone strike, he blows his own head off with a grenade. That man seen above sits in a nearby foxhole and looks on in horror. He then begins to motion to the drone pilot not to drop any more bombs, indicating that he wants to surrender.

Then the whole thing with the message-in-a-bottle being flown over happens.

The Russian reacts to the message by drawing his hand across his throat. The short video seen on Youtube and Twitter made me think he wanted to indicate that he feared getting shot by his own people, but in the full video the drone pilot responds by moving the drone rapidly from side-to-side, as if a person would shake their head. I think the Russian meant to ask if the Ukrainians would kill him.

(Which is something Russian propaganda tells them habitually happens.)

The drone then starts flying to the Ukrainian trenches, leading the Russian across no man's land. He's taking fierce fire from the Russian side, tracers fly past and there's at least two close-calls with mortar shells landing nearby. Finally, he reaches the Ukrainian trench and is dragged to safety.

Powerful stuff.
