Actually Moldovia is a very unique case to see the combination of old issue US gear wih Soviet type weapons. You see most of the personal field equipment they are using are actually donated from US in early-mid 2000s like the original US M81 Woodland camo, first gen PASGT helmets with PVS-7/14 night vision googles, ınterceptor ballistic vests and USG FLC and LBV webbings in use with Kalashnikovs et. all...

Moldovan army looks like Georgian army but in 2001-2,Like litteraly from equipment to tactics to training level
Molodovan army really needs modernistaion, but as being one of the poorest countries in Europe, they probably cant afford that...

Well I guess that the nation's biggest threat in the region is a de-facto state called Transnistria which was located the eastern border of the country and the only state or autonomous region that stay "communist" in Europe after the fall of USSR which also highly supported by Russians and we can say that their military are in slightly better shape than the Moldovia (at least they have T-72s et. all.). Therefore It would not be awkward to assume that Moldovia is gonna became in a more center position in case of Europe's security against increased Russian influance as a result of it's "Near Abroad" policy over the reagion.
