Yeah, my point was more on why the Allies are not being more aggressive in pushing back the deadline and letting more people in.

I'm genuinely not as well versed in this kind of stuff as a lot of other posters here are but I have to assume it's just too late - wasn't the time for that was days, weeks or months ago?

The west can threaten the Taleban all they want with everything but nuclear destruction but right now, I imagine every coalition soldier on the ground is hoping that one dickhead doesn't take things into his own hands and chuck a couple of mortars in whilst an aircraft is on the runway. All it takes is a disabled aircraft blocking the runway and not only are all those Westerners and Afghans not getting out safely anytime soon, but also all our soldiers aren't either?

Most of us here arent. It just usually when the guys in power seems to back off or not asserting itself, it is usually because they want it too happen. A lot of people assume it's government incompetence, dig a little deeper and usually theres interests involved.
