Photos My Modelling Years

...there was a show and competition in Vancouver Ca.,a 1/16th Tiger fully decked out and I believe a Sherman, did displays every half hour and then shut down and placed back on to the display tables. Somehow the sherman became active and destroyed a few models on the table,by the time it was stopped it was almost to the Tiger!
had a real nasty habit of stopping when the battery ran out - only to start up again 10 minutes later
I had the Tiger for a while as well till I sold it
Fancy a 1/6th but just not got round to buying one - the 1/6th 'Elephant' piqued my interest a bit ago as I always liked the Porsche running gear

oh no just looked and they are making a King Tiger later in the year - now how do I hide the box from the OH???
Imagine one of them under the Xmas tree?

...back into winter where a field gun crew are lost in the Bavaria`s.

...the problem then after completion is were to keep the thing??? I had that problem twice over with the King Tiger and the 1/9th BMW sidecar motorcycle, unless you have a full basement all to your lonesome!!!

...Korean War,Sherman is called Alcoholics towing a disabled American Sherman back across the 38th parallel. The Recovery Sherman was a Canadian tank and supposedly the last one of it`s kind still operating in the field.

...here we have a Mercedes staffcar 6x4.The harder a model is to figure out the better I liked it! So this kit was an old one made by Tomy a toy in fact which I as a model builder hated!! The kit was all there except for of course a chassis and running gear so I scrounged a front axle and springs from an Opel Blitz and all the rest including the chassis from the Tamiya American M8 armoured car, worked beautifully, the kit tires where used. oh yes the interior needed updating as well.I do believe there is a kit out now which is also called the G4.

...when my Dad was shipped over to Germany in 1958 with the RCDs their tanks were still in Gagetown NB not ready for the trip so when they arrived in Germany the only vehicles available were some old leftover Shermans and I do remember him grumbling about how much he hated them!! There was also an incident at a local gashouse where two fine gentlemen got themselves ejected from the establishment forceably but I don`t know if these two gents were from my Dads Regt. Anyways these two drove back to base and borrowed a sherman drove back to the gashouse and poked the gun barrel through a window and demanded to be let back in or else!!

...the Ashton Armoury Museum was downsizing there stuff because a lot of it did not fit in with the Service Corps,Remce,Ambulance etc,so all of the models that I did plus some other really old ones, builders unknown were all given back to me to redo and repurpose to which the ANAVets[Army,Navy,AirForce Legion ] Museum part approached me to buy some models all armour,to represent the Canadian Army. Well it just so happened that all the armour that was returned to me from Ashton museum all went to the ANAVets museum...except for this one!!
