No VLS or missiles planned for ORP "Ślązak" ?
According to the information from November last year, in the uncertain future, it is planned to mount the AM-35 Tryton stand (35mm anti-aircraft gun) torpedo stations and missile VLS. The on-board helicopter is still unclear.

Happy Easter mate!

The Polish Ministry of National Defense signed today in Świdnik an agreement for the supply of four AW101 helicopters for the Polish Navy. Helicopters are to be delivered by the end of 2022.

The last moment to buy - currently used Mi-14 were to be withdrawn from service from 2023.

The original discussion was for eight helos at a minimum of SAR/ASW capabilities for the Navy. I am thinking they will buy in subsequent penny packets as needed?

In the current reports, 4 helicopters are mentioned, but in the assumptions from 2016, the number was 4 + 4 (option to buy another 4 in subsequent years). At present, large programs are being launched (including purchases of Patriot missiles and HIMARS batteries), which cuts other programs (including the modernization of the T-72 / PT-91 family tanks), hence the current purchase of only 4 AW101.

Looks like an option to purchase additional AW101s was not included in the contract. Your point about the cost of Patriot, and now, possibly 32 F-35s, is very true. Years of neglect and lack of investment have come home to roost.
The F-35 acquisition might be financed outside the regular MOD budget. Wasn't the F-16 program done in that fashion?

You are right about the F-35 in both points - in fact, detailed documents are secret, but in fact it was stated that the purchase of a "5th generation fighter" is already a type indication. Secondly - it would be worthwhile, if we do not want to stop many key programs, solve the financing of buying fighter is money from out of the budget of the Ministry of Defense.

Anyone have any idea when we will start to see the MSBS rifle family in general service or on deployment?

MSBS rifles were introduced in the Territorial Defense Forces (in Polish: Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej) at the turn of 2017 and 2018. Currently, the weapon is to be transferred to line units, which will be on duty within 2020 as part of the NATO Response Force (NRF). This includes sub-units, including from the 21st Podhale Rifles Brigade (the 1st battalion from Rzeszów) and the 6th Airborne Brigade (18th Battalion from Bielsko-Biała). Some of them will also be part of the so-called "Very High Readiness Joint Task Force" (VJTF). Some data and photos from the use of MSBS in these units should appear at the turn of May and June 2019.
However, the adoption of MSBS rifles (in the C16 FB-M1 version) for the Operational Army may raise some doubts of a tactical as well as logistic nature. First of all, currently the WOT (Territorial Defence Forces) receives only the basic variant with a 406-mm (16-inch) barrel. For many soldiers, such a weapon will simply be too long and will not replace the subcrabine wz. 96C Mini Beryl. The MSBS variant with a 254-mm (10-inch) barrel will be available only after testing. Secondly, the Polish Army did not order from the manufacturer a single-loaded grenade launcher for ammunition 40 mm x 46SR, adapted to MSBS.
Thirdly - most of the equipment used in the Polish Army is not adapted to the magazines of the AR-15 standard, they are used to adapt to AK / Beryl magazines of a different shape. In addition, a lot of used equipment systems can not carry more than 6 magazines when they are delivered 8 magazines with MSBS. At last - sights. Probably, collimator sights will be transferred or purchased for soldiers on duty in VJTF. The Polish Army has a large pool of L3 / EOTech HWS 552.A65 models supplied for over 15 years. The Aimpoint Micro T-2 microcollimers from the pool purchased by Special Forces may be included in the Operational Army. It does not change the fact that the issue is also to be solved.

In 2018, as part of cooperation Polish Armed Forces with the Armed Forces of Pakistan, representatives of Pakistan were acquainted in Poland with new carbines Grot C16 FB-M1 (MSBS with 406 mm - 16 inch barrel) cal .5,56x45 mm and other shooting constructions developed in Poland, including with MSBS-7,62N rifles cal. 7.62x51 mm (from the beginning, MSBS-7,62N developed in two varieties: a rifle with a 508-mm barrel with a fixed buttstock and a 406-mm semi-automatic rifle with a folding buttstock. The latter variant can reach subunits of airborne and aeromobile units, where it replenishes weapons to 5.56 mm x 45 ammunition. This is due to the experience of these formations from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan)
