Morning gang!

Back in 2015 I visited the National Military Museum where a green C8 with plastic handguards (not RAS) with a weird light that folded round the front sight post was on display. IIRC it belonged to Marco Kroon. Yet an image is nowhere to be found, only of Kroonś later C8 with KAC rails and surefire light that is attached to the FSP... Im slowly beginning to wonder if my mind made all it up... anyone got any info?
Quite possible. The KCT used diemaco C8 with normal plastic handrails and they were indeed completely green. You could see them being used in the ECO for quite some time, while they were already phased out by the HK416 for active operators. Not sure if an early Diemaco belonging to Maj Kroon is or was on display. I believe a green diemaco is on display elsewhere in the museum. So perhaps you mixed things up.

Afghanistan. The door gunners of the German NH90's must keep their shooting skills up to date. This is done on specific shooting days for optimal focus on training. It is then necessary that other units provide a safe environment. The Dutch soldiers of 45 Mechanized Infantry Battalion RIOG and 44 Painfbat RI PJWF have this responsibility. undertaken by providing 'force protection' in the form of a so-called '360'. After firing, there was also the opportunity for the armored infantrymen to practice taking off, flying and taking off with the NH90. One of the tasks of the force protection is to patrol the ground defense area. In this way, the force protection shows their presence to the local population and they can talk to the population. The information from these conversations can then be used to gain a better understanding of the area, in order to keep NATO troops safe.

The image that Afghanistan is only desert is incorrect. Also in Afghanistan you can find spectacular views and beautiful pieces of nature. Dutch soldiers proved this in March during a patrols in the Ground Defense Area around Camp Marmal.
