Is there any news on the 5 additional C-130s that were being discussed last year?

As far as I know, talks regarding the details of the intergovernmental agreement for the takeover by Poland of five used C-130H Hercules transport aircraft have not yet been completed. The Polish Armaments Inspectorate does not inform at what stage they are and what is the reason for their prolongation. It cannot be ruled out that a contentious issue may be the intention of the Polish side to minimize the participation of American companies in the renovation and modernization of aircraft.

Unofficially, it is said that the Ministry of National Defense would like to provide only a basic service in the USA that will allow a safe flight from Arizona to Bydgoszcz (Poland). The PDM inspection, combined with a possible modernization, will take place at the Polish Military Aviation Works No. 2.

Thanks for the information.

The Americans would like to attach an exorbitant price for "renovation & modernization". They are doing quite well with the F-35 and Homar so should be satisfied already.

Aahhh, a true winter... Polish soldiers saved lifes of two "mountain walruses" (I know it is stupid term, but those ppl are even more - they climb the mountains almost naked, just in underwear and boots, and they often have no warm clothes in backpacks!) in Bieszczady: https://www.rmf24.pl/fakty/polska/n...drodze-na-tarnice-pomogli-im-zoln,nId,5017724 (Polish text, but there is a photo).

Unfortunately, there are plenty of idiots. Most often it ends with a GOPR (Mountain Rescue Service) action, because usually these idiots begin to understand that they can die, when they are unable to warm themselves up and return.

The Military Mountain Badge of the 21st Podhale Rifles Brigade, 1st class (gold), is the only, unique badge, requiring successively: bronze and silver badges, so obtaining it is not only prestige but also confirmation of your skills in the field of climbing and high-mountain rescue, skiing and condition on the march.
