It seems that Russian forces made good advances in Mariupol, especially in the eastern part. But we will see how they will manage to keep those gains during the night.
With results of Grozny 3.0 and Aleppo 2.0 mixed. Criminals.

I wish there was a clear definition for the term "saboteur".

The action performed is pretty well settled, but who are saboteurs?
Are they Russian soldiers behind enemy lines?
Are they pro-Russia Ukrainians/partisans?
Are they foreign nationals working on behalf of either the Russians or pro-Russia Ukrainians?

Because, though the action itself remains the same, the implication is pretty different.

Russian soldiers behind enemy lines would be just like any other unit of any other army; working behind the enemy to disrupt supplies, communications, etc... it pretty common and routine.
The other two though... I don't know... maybe something akin to domestic terrorism?
just another way to murder and give the veneer of legality

I do not know if this is legit, but reportedly Brasilian volunteers are going back home after they were attacked in Lavov barracks.
Volunteer morons probably posted all their selfies in Instagram all loaded up with geo-tag data.

there was a post a few pages back that quoted Zelensky as saying they were going to kill some group of people, the idea I got from it was that essentially, they would be shot on sight..... Now, I get nervous when governments start trying to claim the right to kill non combatants without due process or any legal protection at all, "just because I say so" that behavior is what the bad guys do, not the good guys.

..but it does sound ominous though, and if NATO were somehow to be hit, Poland would the 1st................ reeks bad blood !
has Jake Sullivan told Poland about this? They might have a threshold of response thats a little slower than Mr Sullivans war face...

Yeah, same man.

But I get even more nervous when I see knob-heads clapping and agreeing with that kind of measure.

On a related note the Ukrainian orthodox church is looking to severe ties with the Russian orthodox church because of it's support for the invasion. A Russian orthodox church in Amsterdam got a visit from an archbishop who told them that "the ministry of foreign affairs in Moscow is watching this church with great interest". They considered that a threat and are ditching Kirill as their head honcho as well.

The training facility wasn't exactly new (unknown), and being so close to the Polish border it doesn't take a genius (or intel) to figure it out.

I mean come on, 230$/month to sell your freedom to the Ukrainians. At least the Syrians are getting 1000$. (according to this article)
when I was emailing the embassy, they told me no pay, they would feed me, they might issue me a rifle but I might also have to buy it. I was also told to bring gear, carrier with sapi plates, clothes etc... that was before they set up a system hopefully its a little better terms. they also couldnt guarantee a combat role, but that I might encounter it...

I have seen a tweet that said several Dutch volunteers were wounded.

Lol a woman was arrested by the Russian police as they thought she might be complaining to the foreign journalists, but she was actually saying she supported the war. Friendly fire.

Oh wow, a 19yo who figured it all out.

If Russia wants to "annihilate" Ukraine and Ukrainians then it seems Russia has opted for the most ineffective way to do so.

Russia's leader wrote a treatise in 2021 that says that Ukrainians do not exist as a real people (you can read it yourself https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Historical_Unity_of_Russians_and_Ukrainians) and then months later Russia begins shelling civilian areas in Ukraine until the Ukrainian population flees from their homes or is dead.

In which ways does this match, or not match, the standard definition of ethnic cleansing in international law. If they annex the territories in the future, it will surely match the standard definitions. The attack even includes a pre-mediated essay about the non-existence of the people who will be cleansed, which is more evidence of intent than we have for most examples of ethnic cleansing in history. .

Then months later these events occur.
