Traditionally neutral Switzerland is also drawing its sword and is likely to join the Western allies in freezing Russian assets. Switzerland is also an important centre for energy trade and so will not be used as a springboard from which to circumvent sanctions against the aggressor. There will be a full coalition to hunt down Russian assets, companies, real estate, bank accounts, yachts, private jets, football clubs, etc., all the assets that have been installed in democracies over the last two decades or so, will jump, and on the other hand, Western investors, the Norwegian fund of USD 1300 billion has already done so, will have Russian assets on their ban list. A veritable financial stone age is upon the war aggressor Putin regime and its beneficiaries.
As the language of the White House suggests, there is a great determination here to 'hunt down' the oligarchic assets that have been hunted out, and a special transatlantic unit will be set up to do this, which will no doubt be joined by all democracies, and the corrupt Russian assets will be flushed out wherever they are available. Finally.

I forgot to provide a link earlier: Link
EU countries will send "fighter jets" to Ukraine at Kyiv's request to help it counter the Russian air and land assault, the bloc's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Sunday. "We're going to provide even fighting jets. We're not talking about just ammunition. We are providing more important arms to go to a war," he told a press conference. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has told the EU "they need the kind of fighting jets that the Ukrainian army is able to operate... some member states have these kinds of planes," Borrell said.
Any idea what he's talking about? Perhaps Polish Mig-29s?

You know me better than to assume I watch ARD, so I'll take that as trolling on your part.
Why? Just because most of their programming is done by a bunch of Saupreußen ?? I'll admit, I was trolling a little there...
America's energy dependance has naught to do with this war. Nor the energy policies of Europe, for that matter. You may be too young to have experienced the Cold War in person. I'm not. If Russian gas dependance didn't enable Moscow to thwart NATO's Double-Track Decision, which was an existential threat to Russia in a time of actual confrontation, why would it be of relevance now that Russia isn't even attacking NATO but Ukraine? Have you even seen Putin's speech? Have you read this article which RIA.ru launched in anticipation of an easy victory?
You're right, I am too young to remember the CW. But let us not pretend that the current energy policies around the western world aren't putting Russia in a position of relative strength and leverage.
The same could be said about your claims regarding Biden's allegedly facilitating this crisis by his "everybody-friends-now" approach. This isn't about NATO. It's about Putin's delusional dream of unifying all Slavs under his rule. It's about putting an end to democracy in a largely-Russian speaking country whose media and people could convince the average Russian that he shouldn't put up with Putin anymore.
I agree 100%, you're pushing at open doors with me, when it comes to Putin's misguided visions of grandeur.
And yet now they're part of the anti-Russian coalition, condemning Russia and giving Ukraine loan respites.
Mayhaps, but what is certain is that they won't lift a finger to give the US or anyone else for that matter an economic leg-up in this current predicament, which they might have done under different circumstances.
By the way, you kind of missed the point all along. Trump's suggesting that the invasion wouldn't have happened because Putin feared him. Yeah.Well, if the remarks Trump made the other day during his grandiose speech strike you as a mark of adolescence … a sense of responsibility …
I don't really follow all of Trump's speeches and I rarely pay attention to media coverage of them, what I have long ago resolved to do is not to give a rat's a$$ about what politicians (whatever their background) say but rather what they do and enable. When it comes to that approach Biden loses by more than a couple of miles. Not due to his obvious dementia I hasten to add.

Wait under Putin...
- NATO expansion is unprecedented and unified Europe
- Scandinavian Neutrality destroyed
- German pacifism era has ended
- Russian economy destroyed

You guys are pretty sure he isnt a German double agent?

Ukrainian Soldiers and Police did not allow Africans to take the train from Ukraine to Poland.
It was stated that priority was given to the Ukrainians.

The same happened to Indian citizens yesterday. Some literally took a beating at a checkpoint on the Polish border. The Twitter video can be found a few dozen pages back in this thread.

Well, war lasts for 4 days and Russians are in Kiev and Harkov and in some directions up to 250 km deep in Ukr territory. At least one big Ukr group is surrounded in Mariupol and more similar pockets are in making. Ukr stores are blowing on a daily basis and Russians are on the sky over the whole Ukraine. Yes, they are more successful side.

Was that for free? no, they take casualties for sure.

Just as comparison in Desert Storm in 5th day "front line" wasn't moved for inch.
That is true and I still think that the Russian side will manage to win this war. However, if we are to compare Desert Storm to this, you have to take in perspective that there are several differences.

1) Russian side has sustained at least x2 casualties in 4 days than the whole coalition had in the whole operation.
2) Russian economy unlike the American one at that point is in ruins.
3) Russia lost the information/propaganda war.

This will turn out to be a Russian pyrrhic win and quite possibly the beginning of the end for Putin's regime.

It's the irony of this pointless war that if Putin had just kept his mouth shut and done nothing, the geopolitical situation would've continued to work in Russia's favour. Ukraine would've never been in a position to be granted membership by neither NATO nor EU; the EU would've remained divided; Germany would've remained a bastion of delusional pacifism; Europe would've continued to import Russian fuels en masse; Scandinavia and Switzerland would've remained neutral … the list goes on. It's a colossal act of self-sabotage. But make no mistake, that's not a good sign.

It's exactly what makes Putin so unpredictable and dangerous right now. Did he take a gamble under the guise of nationalism and lose? Or did he really lose his mind and set out to wage a war that is, quite simply, foolish and fraught with risks which a younger Putin would've recognised? Well, send this article from RIA Novosti through DeepL or Google Translate and prepare to marvel at the Kremlin's outlandish take on this war.
