Each year, the Irish Navy presents the Leading Seaman Robert O'Keeffe (RIP) Gunnery Student of the Year award to the overall best performing student who has undertaken a Gunnery career course.
Last week, the 2023 award was presented to Able Seaman Ellen Ward, who not only achieved the best academic performance, but demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and competence throughout her Seaman Gunner II training.
The award was presented to A/Sea Ward by Officer Commanding and Commandant of the Naval College (OC & CNC) Commander Roberta O'Brien.
