They just ran this story on the off-chance it might be true because that's how they make a living.

Most probably BS. Westerners likes these stories for some reason. If they cannot overthrow or kill some nation leader, they predict his death constantly. Of couse maybe he's really sick with something, finally we all die.



I doubt very much. There is two possible options - someone like Shoigu (he is very popular, although he is non-Russian and that can be a problem) from military or FSB or something. Or someone like Mishustin, Kirienko or someone from current government with economical\financal background.

shoigu is Siberian ? or central Asian ? he seem like mix of Russian and native Asian in Siberia or central asia plus why is it a problem if he not pure white Russian , he still Russian , we have a president was of ethnic minority but then our govt system is a share power style ( party leader , president , pm , parliament leader and then there are council of central party member ) maybe Russia after putin could try the share power system ,president , pm , parliament leader style so even if the president is non white Russian it wont be a problem

Shoigu is Tuvin (from Siberian Tuva republic). It is not THAT big problem, he is minister of defence now and was emercom minister earlier and here is Russia this is normal and no one really cares about it, we always had a plenty non-Russian army generals, ministers etc. However i suppose for president most people prefer a Russian ethnic person (Ukrainian/Belorussian considered Russian btw). So, not a critical/obligated thing, but still wish of voters majority.

Of couse we have modern political democratic system with all these power branches. Do you really believe all these stupid jokes about Russia? Like some of our western members likes to joke about elections with one name on the ballot, coronation of Tzar Putin and all this crap? Man, Stalin is dead, Soviet union is gone, cold war is gone, these times has gone decades ago!
