Syria conflict: Turkey shells Kurdish militia

Turkey has shelled a Kurdish militia in northern Syria and demanded it retreat from territory it has seized, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said.

The US urged Turkey to stop the shelling and focus on fighting the group Islamic State (IS).

Meanwhile Turkey's foreign minister said Turkey was mulling a ground invasion of Syria with Saudi forces.

Turkish Tanks seen on the border with Syria

The Turks would bring troops to Syria, to bring down the Syrian and Russian aircraft, Russians will answer,Turkey is in NATO...
Welcome to the third world war!

13 times Russia fought with Turkey we are used to

The Turks are more interested in control as opposed to peace, they fear the Kurds and would do anything to prevent them being stabilised on their borders.

Next turn the Turks it would be annexation of these territories, after which the war will drag on indefinitely

IMHO

I am stuffed with painkillers so bear with me. To fight crazies in Syria you send crazies to fight in Syria. Why would the Turks bring troops to Syria just to bring down the Syrian and Russian aircrafts? Hopefully ww3 won't start due to the fighting over such dump. I refuse to believe mankind is that stupid. Yet. Now Turks always have been fond of the politics of expansion but they're not the only ones in this conflict, right? Kurds are the hated minority in this and they do fight for their own independent state. It's one blurry unpredictable war. The outcome? Among other things, I think, some borderlines will be re-written.

A funny thing, I am still stuffed with painkillers (for a different reason)... So. I know that we´ve got here some experts on Russia´s politics, any thoughts on what is happening there in these days? Are they really going to pull out? (Hehe, do you see what I did there?) What I see is diplomacy at its finest. And what do you think about Turkey´s approach? Especially after the recent terrorist attack. Do you think that Trump will be president - and if yes, how is US foreign policy regarding Syria going to change? Do you think that Trump will tell Putin that it really doesn´t matter what the media write as long as he´s got a young and beautiful piece of ass?

the planes are gone, the helicopters entered )))

Thanks man, glad to be here!

The YouTube account is really well done and informed on the conflicts in Syria/Iraq and on geopolitical crisis happening around the world.
I would like to give a warning though if you decide to follow them fore I feel they have a slight bias for the Russians, nevertheless, they have a good account of the fighting and action going on in the region with a brief overview.

Russian 'Rambo' wipes out ISIS thugs by calling airstrike on HIMSELF when surrounded by Jihadi forces

Brave Russian soldier ordered military officials to drop bombs on his location after being surrounded by ISIS terrorists

A brave Russian special forces soldier who was on a Rambo-style one man mission to hunt for ISIS militants died a "hero" after calling in an airstrike on HIMSELF.

The fearless officer was directing Russian airstrikes at Islamic State targets near the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria when he was surrounded by terrorists.

Not prepared to go down without a fight, he ordered military officials to drop bombs on his location and died in the blast.

A spokesperson for the Russian military said: "An officer of Russian special operations forces was killed near Palmyra while carrying out a special task to direct Russian airstrikes at Islamic State group targets."

"The officer was carrying out a combat task in Palmyra area for a week, identifying crucial IS targets and passing exact coordinates for strikes with Russian planes.

"The officer died as a hero, he drew fire onto himself after being located and surrounded by terrorists."

US says strike targeted top Qaeda official in Syria
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/world/921249/us-says-strike-targeted-top-qaeda-official-in-syria

Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the US military conducted an air raid on a meeting of officials of Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front on Sunday in northeast Syria, targeting Abu Firas al-Suri and other leaders.

"We assess that Al-Qaeda senior leader Abu Firas al-Suri was in that meeting and we are working to confirm his death," Cook said on Monday.

He said Suri was a Syrian national and a "legacy" Al-Qaeda member who fought in Afghanistan in the late 1980s and 1990s.

He "worked with Osama bin Laden and other founding Al-Qaeda members to train terrorists and conduct attacks globally," Cook said, adding that Sunday's strike killed several enemy fighters.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Suri, his son and at least 20 jihadists of Al-Nusra and Jund al-Aqsa and other fighters from Uzbekistan were killed in strikes on positions in Idlib province.

Seven were high-ranking jihadists, the Britain-based Observatory said.

Aymenn Jawad al-Tamimi, a research fellow at the Middle East Forum, a US think-tank, said Suri was a top jihadist official.

Suri "was a very senior member of Al-Nusra, but organisations like Al-Nusra aren't debilitated because they lose a single senior leader", he said.

"Their organisational structures are well prepared for targeted assassinations, which are usual business for them."

Suri, whose real name was Radwan Nammous, fought against Soviet forces in Afghanistan where he met Bin Laden and the founding father of global jihad, Abdullah Azzam, before returning to Syria in 2011.

- Warning to Al-Nusra? -

A temporary ceasefire between government forces and rebels has largely held since February 27, but it does not cover Al-Nusra and IS.

The break has allowed Russia and the US-led coalition that has been bombing IS in Syria to concentrate on their fight against the jihadists.

Al-Nusra has generally kept a low profile since the truce brokered by the United States and Russia came into force.
