I don't think that's Rommel mate.......I believe that is a Luftwaffe officers cap he's wearing and it just doesn't look like him, Rommel was shorter and not slender like this tall chap.

Judging from the writing on the back, this is Luftwaffe Major General Franz Josef Walz in January 1940. He was later promoted to Lt. Gen. and died in 1945 in Polish captivity.
