The only reason I could think of it is cost and it is gonna be use by second-line troops, the First line will be Sig716 and new carbine, Caracal was supposed to be but not yet purchase.

Now there won't we be any orders for Bulgarian AKs. We have our own 2 AKM clones plus once production AK-203 starts it will first fulfill the immediate requirements of Army and then it will be offered to paramilitary, state police & export ( 90% Bulgarian AKs are used by Paramilitary and State Police )

In terms of performance definitely the AK-203 packs better punch than Bulgarians. Arsenal is better than other AK clones but not as good as original one.
