Nice looking system. Both the Huntsmans wagons (AS-9 & 10) are based off the K-21 which the AS-21 Redback was also developed from. I wonder if this will add more weight to the Redback offering over the Lynx for the Land 400 Phase 3 IFV project.
Common sense says "yes" but that counts for little when the pollies have their finger in the pie;)

Australian Govt may use it to spread the love around a bit since Victoria missed out on the CRV bid with BAE but now Hanwha are setting up shop there. Building and supporting 45 vehicles (30 AS-9's, 15 AS-10's) is one thing but to add 450 or so IFV's to that will would be another.

I'd rather RAA have the stand alone platform, while Infantry and Cav have the shared commonality in the CRV and IFV systems.

I do personally prefer the Lynx over the Redback. Just wondered if some ministerial backroom dealing would see it pushed towards the Hanwha offering. As you mention it would mean commonalities across a wider rang of vehicles. The Lynx can be converted from a turretted IFV to APC or other variants in under 24hrs. That would be good redundancy for a mech Bn who would likely run a variety of versions. I wonder if Rheinmetall have looked to see if they could integrate the Boxer modules into the Lynx hulls.

I don´t think that the Boxers modules can be used on the Lynx. The Lynx is modular but it requires more time and the components seem to be stand alone and having to be joined rather than a complete mission module.

It is said though that they can be exchanged in around 8hrs and under field conditions. Right now there are only two versions the IFV and the APC.

Yeah highly likely they wouldn't be able to be used without a massive design change given the modules for the boxer are designed to integrate with the right hand drive v hull where as the Lynx is left hand drive among other design issues. As you mention there is plenty of flexibility in the Lynx design to meet all its requirements.

HMAS Arunta departs Fleet Base West and sails into Cockburn Sound, Western Australia after a 20 month Anzac Midlife Capability Assurance Program (AMCAP) upgrade which includes a platform systems remediation program to improve platform reliability and maintainability. HMAS Arunta is the first FFH to undergo the program which provides significant improvements to the ship’s key sensor and communications systems.

Combat Team Alpha, 8/9 RAR

I've never been more ill, than the night we shut down A Coy 8/9RAR in 1996, before putting the whole battalion on ice 6 months later in mid 97. Flew back to Perth the next day for annual leave, Mum picked me up from the airport and had some very grave concerns for how the Army was managing my health and well being...
