Kudos, and good on them for requiring this. By the way, this picture shows why many female soldiers will regrettably not be able to pull this off; it's not so much a question of strength as it is one of height. You'll have an easier time carrying a small and heavier person compared to a tall and leaner one.
That's a good looking uniform. Is that necktie woolen?

Polyester tie, Irish dress uniforms were hot in summer and freezing to wear in winter, officers Sgt-Majors, B.Q.M. S' s did have the old bulls wool type great coats and something like a mackintosh, brown leather gloves other ranks had a overcoat made from the exact same material as the Number 1 parade dress and faux leather black gloves in my time (1976-1997.)

I was born in Nottingham. Mother was English, Dad Irish, we moved to live in Ireland in 1968, I had no problem joining the Irish Army being a citizen was not in the criteria, while in service we had Brits, Jocks, Taffys, Australians, and even one Iraqi serve.Some background story about Capt Barrett (see above)
