Finnish Lance Corporal Evert Mähönen was awarded with the Medal of Liberty 1st Class on Aug 9 1941.

He managed to penetrate the enemy line by using handgrenades, forcing the Soviets to abandon their positions during a night-time battle of Maksimoff Hill in the Hämekoski area on July 19-20.

Here’s an MG Company of the Finnish Infantry Regiment 52 heading to the front in the Repola area in July 1941.

The Army of Karelia (Karjalan armeija) launched the major offensive there on July 8.

The Army was and still is the largest Finnish military formation ever, having some 100000 men.
