A remarkable detail, MKEK PMT-76 machine gun being used on Aselsan Sarp remote weapon stations of the BMC Kirpi II MRAPs. PMT-76 is a FN MAG clone with slightly improved dynamics such as reduced weight and rail attachment. It's aimed to replace the aging MG-3 machine guns used on fixed positions and also as vehicle weapons.

@DENO master! I have a couple of questions for you. As we know the Special Forces Command OKK changed it's standard camo pattern and uniforms but there are still some parts of equipment like the helmet covers and the tactical vests that are still in the old camo pattern. Is there any development regarding new type of vests for our guys? I also want to ask you some more questions.

We see that there are weapons like SAR-223, SAR-109, MPT-55 and KCR-556 entering the inventory of variety of units with different specializations from different structures like Infantry, Gendarmerie Commando, POH, JOH and JOAK-JOPER or the close protection units. We know that SAR-109 were delivered to JOPER and POH. Also we know that POH are using a lot of SAR-223 and there are some MPT-55 in their inventory. What is the reason that these units purchased such amount of Sarsilmaz products? Are they really performing well because from what I have heard and saw even in their official videos there are things that make me think that Sarsilmaz rifles are not so good. What is the feedback for Sarsilmaz from our guys? Before POH purchased such amount of the SAR-223 did they tested any Kale products like KCR-556? I also read that SAT are testing MPT-55. Do you think that there is any national competitor that can replace the standard rifles of units in the caliber of SAT (Colt M4), TuAF CSAR (HK416 A5) or units tied to OKK (HK416 A5)?

The equipment with the standard camo patern will change with the new one that ÖKK has adopt when they became obsolote or damaged enough to not the use. As I observed they are wearing their own "dedicated" camo only for training and base duties and keep wearing the standard camo for field missions. Which makes a lot of sense since they do not want drag too much attention in the field with different camo they are using.

I do not get their obsession with the different camo from the beginning. Their camo looks solid but not worth to mess the standardization within the land forces units. Although what I make as the only reasonable assumption is the camo currently used by the Army SF-ÖKK might become the new standard issue camo for the entire Land forces in the upcoming years since we know their intention to replace the current standard issue one.

It's a fact that the Sarsılmaz products are known as problematic amongst the Turkish LE units. The original reason of Turkish Police to get SIG516 rifles that they didn't like the Sarsılmaz made M4/M4A1 clones priorly they bought. Same applied for the early SAR109T model sub-machine guns, they eventually ended up ordering more MP5s from MKEK. However the latest sarsılmaz SAR 223T which is bought by the Police is the model developed with the feedbacks given by the Police to meet with their needs so I don't think they are gonna face any major problems.

As far as I know both Navy SF (SAT) and Air Force CSAR is testing the MKEK MPT-55 and MPT-55K as the future replacement of their Colt M4 and HK4A6A5s, these rifles are currently in good condition but getting the spare parts for these are become expensive than their domestic counterparts and troublesome regarding the current status quo we are having with the other Western countries right know.

Currently Turkish defence industry has four different AR-15 type weapon platforms including Kale KCR556, Sarsılmaz SAR223T, MKEK MPT-55 and Tisaş ZPT556. At least one of them would be adequete to change their current ones in the special mission units inventory. If its not so producers have capacity to refit them to meet SF standards like we have seen the Sarsılmaz case for the Police

Thank you very much for your response!

Good grief, what is that weapon in the photo that looks like an American hedge clipper with a rifle scope on it, and the troop wearing the bee keepers helmet???

It's an electro-magnetic radiation protective cloth, some sort of a faraday cage for the troopers who are responsible to carry jammer units on their back. It's a good thing to have if you are one of the concerned folks that magnetic beams came from the machine just 10 cms back of your head might do some sort of damage to your brain but in the field very few is actually wears it since its highly impractical...
