So this thread is dedicated to the Tunisian armed forces Images,videos,news and discussions feel free to post here regarding also I will try to introduce the the different branches of the TN's military,national guard and other forces of the country .??????

the Tunisian armed forces was formed in 24 June 1956 (following independence from France in 20 mars same year) it consists of land army(جيش البر) , air force(جيش الطيران) , Navy (جيش البحر) .
Active personnel 80.000

Land army

the land army is older than the armed forces itself it was formed in 1831 in attempt to modernize Tunisia and face the colonial forces and participated in the Crimea war along with the ottomans but in 1881 after the french occupation it was mostly integrated to the french army and few remained as the beys guard or royal guard,not until independence when it reestablished from the royal guard , resistance troops and even a lot Tunisian soldiers who served in the french army.

• 8 mechanized infantry regiments based in Kairouan, Beja, Gabes, Gafsa and Kasserine;
• 6 units of paratroopers based in Borj el-Khadra and Remada;
• 6 Special Forces units based in bizert and Remada; GFS(groupe de force special),GTS(groupement territoire saharien) and tbh there's nearly no information about them and there's a recent special forces group GIM (groupe d'intervention militaire) but I will talk about all of them later.
• 1 unit of military police;
• 16 battalions of tanks.

thanks ^^ , USGN (unite special de garde national or national guard special forces unit) is one of the best special forces in the country and most of CT assassinations of Alqaida leaders in the Maghreb are made by them

The standard rifle of the Tunisian armed forces is the styer aug A2

but it's slowly but surely being replaced with the M4 and all of the SOF operate with it now but it's beginning to be used by normal soldiers

the Tunisian air force (جيش الطياران : Arabic : jaysh al-tayaran)

The Tunisian Air Force was established in 1959, three years after Tunisia regained its independence from France. It took deliveries of its first aircraft, eight Saab 91 Safirs, in 1960, later to be complemented by further Saab 91 Safirs. The Tunisian Air Force entered the jet age in 1965 with the purchase of 8 MB326-B's and then 5 MB326-LT's. France didn't allow Tunisia to have it's own air force and even tried to stop it to acquire aircrafts but later they gifted it some alouettes .

Today Tunisia operate :
11 F-5 tiger II E and 3 F (currently the back bone of TAF but it will be replaced these coming years I will keep you updated about the candidates and welcome your suggestions ^^ )

Aermacchi MB-326 well what I know it's retired but some say it's not and even participated in the counter terrorism offensive in the western mountains so no Idea how many still operates
