I recently watched a TV Documentary about this great woman and was so impressed I felt the need to post some info here.
Mary Barbour headed the Rent Strike in Govan, Scotland in 1915 because unscrupulous land lords extorted the women our soldiers left behind when they went to the Great War by raiseing the rent beyond what the women could afford, this was even more tragic as all the women left behind were working in the munitions factories and other essential services in support of our boys.
