Brussels(CNN)European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has lashed out at "stupid nationalists" on the eve of European elections in which euroskeptic politicians are expected to make gains in the European Parliament.

In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, the outgoing president said he was only too aware of the threat that nationalist politicians pose to European solidarity, which Juncker called the "main objective of the EU."

Some polls project that populists may become the most powerful group in the parliament following this week's elections in all 28 EU nations, resulting in a lasting impact on the future of the bloc and the continent at large. "These populist, nationalists, stupid nationalists, they are in love with their own countries," Juncker told CNN in his Brussels office.

And this globalist asshat wonders why Nationalism is on the rise.

Good luck Euroskeptic crews, rip off the band-aids on all those cracks in the foundation of the EU.

It's beyond his thought process that policies pushed by the commission have caused so called nationalism . Closer integration , the euro , austerity , talk of an EU army etc etc the list goes on . I've voted already , junker won't be pleased ........

I am voting this Sunday too, bfc1001. And since Macaron, Merkel are telling us “it’s us or the nationalist” I doubt highly Juncker will love my vote either.

You might as well Jake . The EU parliament has no real power anyway , it can't legislate . Only the commission can do that .The MEP s just act like a glorified monarch , there to say aye or noe to whatever is waived in front of them . The whole process of going off to vote to elect your representative is merely an illusion of democracy .

If I read posts like the ones above I could vomit bricks. It's obviosuly stuff comming from small-minded people that don't understand that closer-integration and cooperation is the way to go and that without the Euro and certain austerity measures some countries would be even more F***ed than they already are or that an EU army is a great idea for a multitude of reasons.

I ask you what is so difficult to understand that we're stronger together as if everybody works alone for his own? Do you think we can compete with Russia, China, India or the USA one by one? Only a handful of EU countries actually could but their powers would be limited compared to if we act as a union. Do you even know what nationalism means or are you just mixing that up with patriotism?

I'm not going to vote, worthless though a protest it might be. No offence, my British friends, but you have no f**ng business taking part in these elections.

"Give us your sovereignty you unwashed peasants!!"

Good to see you channeling Juncker.

Oh and I'm sure you would be delighted to have an EU Army, got to find ways to crackdown on those rising populist movements telling Brussels to piss off.

The Soviet Union would be proud.

What is more patrotic than giving up your rights and bending the knee to a fractured foreign superstate?

So its okay for Germany to be top dog in Europe and lording it over all the other countries. There is a reckoning coming - Euro will be gone within 5 years and EU will just be a memory. Treat the rest of Europe as your cow and eventually the milk will run out and all you will be left with is a cow pat.

oh and thanks for all the immigrants

As we are still technically part of the EU and are still paying a *hit load of money for the 'privilege', no offense we will take part. We have a Legal responsibility to - which is even more sad. Another stupid waste of our money.

What you are going to see is the rise of the separatist and nationalist parties and a major shift in general politics. Everyone is sick of the EU apart from the Jermans. Euro will be a basket case in a couple of years as countries leave the EU and ditch the Euro.

You can only print extra Euro's for so long before they are worthless - you did't learn much from the 1930's

First of all mate, it weren't EU immigrants who preyed on white kids in Rotherham and elsewhere, and all those stabbety-stabby gangs of yours aren't precisely EU-immigrants either. Besides, you do realize that
  • Both France and the UK forced Germany to join the Euro, otherwise they would've had vetoed Germany's reunification?
  • That Germany is the EU's single biggest financial contributor?
  • That Germany has paid more into the bailout fund than all other European countries combined?
  • That Germans have the least representation in the European parliament?
  • That Germans have the least representation in the EU administration?
  • That until very recently, German wasn't even a fricking official language of the EU, despite being the most-spoken one?
  • That Germany is the only country inside the Eurozone (next to crisis-stricken Greece) whose savings have shrunk due to the ECB's policies?
Last but not least, riddle me this: If Germany's the ruler of the EU and being in that damned club is so bloody great for us, how come that 35% of the people want out, and counting? Shouldn't those folks want to stay in then? Lording over all the other countries, FFS. There's enough to criticize about the EU; criticize what's actually there.

Besides, the EU cannot be that bad if even Nigel f***ing Farage made sure that the kids he has with his German wife got German passports before the deadline. Well, maybe he is just too tight to pay for the expensive education in the UK. He is a f***ing tick, after all.

Regards the euro bailout money , it's not like countries gave their money away for free .

I could not agree with you more - I would have a cull tomorrow - national service - the whole nine yards

Basically every EU country is in hock to you - you are propping up a PIG :)

35% or more want out because they are unable to manage their economies because of the EU and the Euro. Spain/Italy/Greece etc. in the past would have devalued their currency to make themselves more competitive.
EU is not working for ordinary people - and that is why there is an issue. UK leaving is just the start - sooner we are gone with a no deal the better. Are Germany going to take up the slack budget wise - if not once there are no hand outs countries will leave

You can look at that in two ways - why did she not marry a Jerman if they are so great - or as they say about Trump she took a job no English woman would do:rolleyes:
Sadly Nigel is a good orator and has charisma (looks good wearing a milk shake) - people will follow him and wave a flag. I can see past all that and he is feathering his own nest - but still does not alter the fact that the UK wants to leave the EU.
I just hope he ends up in Germany - you deserve each other - Farage for Chancellor,=ger

I worry about the future of Western Europe. The Eastern Europeans still remember what it was like under the Soviet Union, and have retained the survival gene, now that they are free. In 50 years what will France, Germany, Sweden even the UK look like? Probably not very pretty.

I applaud Brexit as a fleeting glimmer from the flame of liberty. I hope it's not too late for the rest of Europe.

Sounds like if I were German, I'd want to Germexit.

Just wondering but... Too late for what?

Thanks for that. As much as Germany likes to act like the EU victim, they are laughing all the way to the bank. I wonder if Sharia law would be as profitable in the next one or two generations there.

Too late for the individual and unique European cultures to save themselves.

Understood.

Well I once posted a similar topic on TheMess way before it closed.

It’s a concern many Americans seems to have about Europe in general and I can see where you’re getting at.

Multiculturalism by and large works fine in the US and Canada. You were always a land of immigration and were born officially in 1776 making you a young country that was born on a virgin continent (beside the natives).

However and while immigration is indeed a concern among Europeans, it’s nowhere as bad as sometimes portrayed in US medias particularly very conservative ones.

When watching or reading some outlets, we can no longer enjoy a beer, along with eating charcuterie tapas on a terrace in Paris or Madrid, Berlin without being AK-47 gunned down by the local beardie jihadist. Sure this has happened multiple times since 2015 and IS attacks and not everything is rosy but overall this is vastly exaggerated.

Immigrants also integrate in Europe, and many work their asses off as construction workers and other tough jobs doing what European wouldn’t do (that rings a bell likewise the Mexican who cut your neighbor grass in Murica).

Political Islam is an issue, however I doubt very old countries like France, Germany or Sweden will disappear within this century because of millions Muslims. It’s a far right nightmare that’s been going for decades, and I’m not seeing it happen soon.
