At this point US direct involvement might do more to Eff Up a strategy which currently appears to be working.

Israel simply can't destroy the underground facilities. There is no other way. Centrifuges might have been seriously damaged due to the loss of power, but the stake with that gamble is the existence of the state of Israel. Better safe than sorry. Also Iran is rumoured to already have enough material for around 10 nuclear warheads.

Btw, the WH is downplaying his words according to CNN, making it seem like he meant that he is concerned about the welfare of the Iranian citizens and urging them to negotiate.
