A majority of the French are opposed to Palestine being recognized? Meh, we will just ignore them, we didn't ask for their opinion anyway.
They are demonstrating en mass for several days against a reform? Meh, we will pass it anyway, we are the ones in power if we want to pass a law or a reform we will do it.
The opposition is against it and has the majority? Look at my hands... 49.3. Up yours!
Anyway, Macron does not really care about popularity. I don't think he really can care about it, nor can he really hope to salvage any.
The Palestine thing is nothing but another brick to his wall of shame.
But it does not matter, the public opinion does not matter. It has no practical weight. Politicians don't do things because their constituents want them to do them, they do things if they want to do it to begin with and if it can benefit them. The people will just have to adapt and go with the flow.
