Philippine Air Force's 5 Super Tucano Now Armed and Operational!
Last October 20, 2021, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) conducted an "arrival and blessing ceremony" activity for the five (5) A-29B Super Tucano at Major Danilo Atienza Air Base (MDAAB), Sangley Point, Cavite City. This event signifies that the five (5) A-29B Super Tucano of the Philippine Air Force are finally operational and ready for regular missions.
Aside from that one missing aircraft which was allegedly damaged by the Brazilian instructor a few months ago, there were two (2) small deadly details that were added to each aircraft. According to a report, the damaged A-29B is currently undergoing repairs after the unfortunate incident last July 2021.
As seen on the photos we've provided and enhanced, all five (5) A-29B Super Tucano of the Philippine Air Force are finally armed with two (2) internally-mounted .50 caliber machine guns. These MGs mounted internally are American-licensed FN Herstal® M3P .50 Cal. machine guns which were presumably acquired from the United States thru the Joint United States Military Assistance Group – Philippines (JUSMAG-P). It can be remembered that all six (6) A29-B Super Tucano arrived from Brazil last October 2020 without MGs due to the arms embargo imposed by Belgium on the Philippines.
