Since the escalation, the GNL in particular but also other units, have shifted most of their weight to the Bakhmut frontline.
Contrary to popular belief, the majority of Georgians actualy fight in a number of Ukrainian army regiments, rather than comprising legions. They are usualy deployed as reconnaissance detachments of the respective forces. Though the GNL does operate its own recon, hunter and saboteur elements.

On January 21st, 2023 - Ukrainians from Kharkiv, and former mountain climbers - Oleksandr Zakolodnyi and Hryhorii Hryhoriev were killed in action near the city of Soledar. They were friends, both were 35 years old, they had trained, competed and mountain climbed together before the invasion. In the first days of the Russian invasion, they volunteered to defend Ukrainian land together, fought in a special unit, and were killed in the same battle.
