Never had a beer with Yam in it! Saw one with coffee in it the other day... cold brew, no less.....

Tried a Uinta Brewing's Rise & Pine Ale again. Juniper and Hops in an ale... Hops dominated.. Think I will go back to my Alaskan Winter (Spruce) Ale.... The Uinta offering has a very nice dark and hearty sturdiness though

HI DOWNSIZER!

I have yet to see that Otra Vez Gose in the store here in Idaho. Strange..... I have tried their (limited run) Skiesta lager about three times now and really think it is good for everyday. I got a bit tired of their summer Sierraveza Mexican-style lager a few months ago. But both have been fun.

Night before last, I got to try some whiskeys and a bourbon. I was careful to only try a little of each except for an Irish whiskey (can' remember the name) of which I had a full serving of:

Seagrams Wild Honey whiskey, not nearly as sweet as I was worried it would be.
Black Velvet Caramel.... think of it as a dessert Canadian whiskey. Sweeter than the Seagrams by a fair bit. Needs to be cut by a lot of ice or some soda water. Yep... it could be high school whiskey.... competes in the Fireball world..... ;-)
Bowmore 12-year Islay single malt, peaty and smoky
Highland Park Full Volume, 18-year single malt. USD$175.00 and someone was willing to open it for a Christmas party! Very strong leathery taste that a Scotch person might like but not me!! Very fun to try, and I felt honored to be offered a shot though!

I've only ever seen that Otra Vez Gose twice here in the UK, once in a pub in Waterloo area in London and recently from my online beer supplier (when I got it now). I really liked it, but it is more a summer beer for sure.

We get the main Sierra Nevada beers here mostly, Pale Ale, Torpedo, California IPA, that's generally it....

A local (well, 80 miles away up in the mountains) brewery's take on a porter: McCall Brewing's "Say Whut Coconut Porter". Very smooth and tasty. Not anywhere near too much coconut flavor. Enjoyed.

I find you have to be careful with coconut in beers. Too much and they taste like hawiain tropic!

I was given a bottle of Redbreast (Was just the standard 12 year old, I think) when I turned 25, and didn't open it until I was about 29. It was the morning one of my closest friends got married - me, him, the best man and another friend all knocked a couple back before the ceremony.

Hadn't thought about that in years - good memory.

Guy I met that used to be a whiskey rep says his go to bottle at home was Tullamore. Says it’s “like corn flakes” meaning it is easy to drink.

I have a bottle or two at all times.

Been to that distillery a lot in the past and all the others surrounding it - my grandparents used to own the farm behind Glentauchers Distillery near Keith - so there was always plenty of decent whiskey on tap When they sold up the distillery bought a lot of the land and in particular the woodland and built a lot of huge storage facilities - the amount of whiskey stored is phenomenal

You lucky bastard! This Project XX is also phenomenal. Very rich and smooth. I used to be into liquid peat bogs of Islay style and the like, but I've been preferring Highland and especially Speyside whisky for quite some time now.

Islands for days on the hills, cold winter nights and man flu, Highland for special occasions and the memories, Speyside for easy drinking, Irish for remembrance and getting stocious...

A pint of Grevensteiner Landbier, unfiltered lager. Went down nicely while raking leaves on a 55 degree F day! Hot weather for this area, this time of year!

21'st Amendment's Fireside Chat Winter Ale with spices added. Very NOT spiced, for a spice "oldish" ales. Pleasant, unremarkable.

Have to go ahead and drink my last winter season beers, especially since the P.C. Covid-19 safety teams just shut down my hometown snowboarding mountain for the rest of the season!! ?? Crap.....and while typing this message, I just found out the next closet resort has also turned off its lifts! AAArrggghh...
