Food & drink What are you drinking?

been working outside today strimming - so drunk 3ltr of orange lucozade - bottles are now back in the freezer with water and juice- so 3ltr of slush later
More cider later

Had me a 12-ounce can of 10 Barrel Swill.. Yep, it's called Swill. ;-)

It's a slightly lemonade-style sour and more tasty than bitter. Reminded me of their Berliner Weisse, without Schuss.

Nice and tasty quaff for a warmer day!

I am currently drinking everything I can.

Pils Brosnan, gotta love the creativity of these breweries regarding their latest batch’s names.

So how was it? A decent Pilsner? Better than said - Pilsner Urquell?

I had Chimay grande reserve before dinner. Still pleasant... actually great for any craft aficionados but a bit too boozy even for me.

Oh, it was way better than Urquell. Typically northern German on the hoppy side (dry-hopped) but not as watery as many Pilsners. I should also try the "Steven Seagull" IPA by the same company.

And I agree that those Trappist beers are a bit too much on the boozy side. Do you know La Guillotine? Not my drink either.

Having a Uinta Brewing's Lime Pilsner! Very refreshing on a warm day. 90 Fahrenheit out there in the shade. But, very low humidity!

No mate, it will be a commemorative issue. Lots of units here in Oz do the same thing on special occasions (Y)

3 from my first Battalion. The Black Bear is our marching song.
The Minh Dam Secret Zone was a battle ground encountered by 8RAR in Vietnam and was also the name of my Initial Employment Training Platoon.
And The Handler is for the poor bugger who is charged with keeping the Battalion's mascot, a merino ram, in good condition. This job carries some risk and has resulted in the absolute S**t being beaten out of one young digger in recent years. Stan the Ram copped a demotion (couldn't give less of a S**t) and confinement to barracks (what else is new) and a hair cut (a bit rude to be doing that in what passes for Winter in Queensland)...

I’ve had it a couple times mostly during short stay in Belgium, very cheap there and I dig it. Same brewery as Delirium Tremens which is another Belgian icon.

7.4% nice

Haven’t had this one yet but I’ll seek it out.

There are 11 trappist breweries now. Out of which I’ve had:

Orval
Westmalle
Westvleteren (The Holy Grail for many beer geeks)
Chimay
Rochefort
Spencer (Authentic American trappist)
Mont des cats (a French unofficial trappist in « collab » with the Belgian Chimay)
Tre Fontane (Italy)

All of them are great to outstanding but hard to find for some of them unless you live in Belgium. Even Americans by and large can’t get a hold of Spencer which is brewed IIRC in Massachusetts.

An interestingly different "lime beer": Dogfish Head's Sea Quench Ale.

This one is a session sour, and it is is lime peel forward, with some saltiness and a fair bit of "sour". If you like sours, this one is worth try.

If you want a Mexican light lager with lime in it, then "nope"!

Ahh...^------ Haven't had any port in a while.

Today it was sunny and hot with 99 degrees F.

Luckily, I didn't have to work outside in it...

Did develop a thirst for a beer though. Didn't have any beers of a light nature in the fridge, so I decided to open a bottle of Australian pino Grigio. It was light and tart and refreshing enough.
