I think they used to roll out barrels of agent orange from a Chinook, not sure I would call it a "Chemical attack" as such, the agent was intended to destroy the jungle that the enemy was using to hide not kill people. Unfortunately many people that came into contact with AO did suffer later in life.

That was 100% chemical warfare.Even if you didn't kill them directly, spraying such lethal chemicals on forestation would reduce available food and would cause famine and would huge amounts of deaths,of which most would be innocent civillians. So basically, these are actually terror attacks conducted using Chemical attacks on mostly innocent population. Can't they fight them properly? Or are they too weak for conventional warfare?
We did spray some Agent Orange out of Huey's but not much. Don't get too hung up on the propaganda Phoenix, I was sprayed with the stuff quite a bit. It worked well for knocking the leaves down in the jungle exposing the trails on the ground, but after the monsoon the jungle was back as strong as ever. We never used it on crops.

Well, would you put Agent Orange all over your homeland America's forests for the same reason?
Doctors in your places freak out over heavy-school bags being too much for children and what would they think about AO spread all over the country?

Kira.
Strange question however, these were different a difficult times, hindsight is a wonderful thing. War is cruel and harsh. What astonishes me is in battle we drop munitions that kill & injure people in the thousands and yet we fixate our criticisms on things like agent orange?, what a strange world we live in these days.
The after affects of AO I suspect were not known, would they have still used it if they did..... who knows. The thing is it has been done and nothing can change that, we just need to do the best we can we the aftermath sometimes.
