Rice paddy south Vietnam 1970s?

north Vietnam , back in the 1970-80s there were a lot of aluminum pant , chopstick , spoon , hair pin , hair con , ... made from shot down plane , some even made chair / table from it , those thing last forever and now become a collective item which price can be pretty high

maybe European , during the war there were a lot of European film maker and reporter in north Vietnam ( also Japanese )

in laos until few year agos you still can see boat made from fuel tank or aluminium , this guy seem like taken it back to the village work shop where they will clean / smelt it down and made chopstick / hair pin / rice bow , .... nothing is left un used in Vietnam those time

a nva soldier

a capture VC who been wound ( shot out stomach which his comrade used a bow to keep it in ) he will fought on for 3 day befor too weak and was capture by American soldier in the picture , his only demand was a sip of water , the south Vietnam soldier who was with this American soldier say they should take water from the pond instead of the can water , the American soldier was mad and say who ever could fight in this condition for 3 day deserved to drink my water no wonder a lot of American vet say they fight on the wrong side ( which you guy are , Vietminh was American allied and train by OSS ( cia ) we only become enemy cause 1. French wanted they empire back ( ego issue ) 2. cold war heat up ( ho chi minh was a communist but he aint pure communist , stalin didn't trust him at all , they didn't supply us weapon until 1952-3 and we been fighting the French since 1946 , ho chi minh and Vietminh have to buy weapon from KMT and japanese and in other asia country ( and also get few tons of weapon from myanmar that why now day Vietnam invest alot in myanmar at a return of favor ) with gold donate from the population

some of them revisit Vietnam in recent year , while a lot also have pass away , the first SA2 kill was operate by the soviet specialist , the second kill was half Vietnamese-half soviet crew , it only in the 3 kill that soviet specialist become less involved , the soviet also send over specialist to modify the SA2 during the war vs jammer , but there are 0 soviet ground troop ever involved in ground fight in Vietnam same for there are 0 American pow left after the war , but there are American vet in Vietnam , quite few chose to return to Vietnam after 2000s and decide to retire here

@BravoZulu should I post battle of GM100 here or creat a new threat ? ( GM100 is a French convoy that heading to the central highland and was ambush by Vietminh force , the entire convoy was surround and they lost was extremely high , the convoy mostly are French troop who come direct from north korea , unlike other French unit in Indochina at that time which majority are African,legion and Vietnamese with French officer, a lot of vehicle from the GM100 was later used by Vietminh parade of 1955 that you can see on documentary ( we capture more vehicle in this convoy then in dien bien phu battle , it was over shadow by the dien bien phu battle but it was one of the major lost of the French in Indochina war , other GM group was send to rescue GM100 was also ambush and didn't manage to come to aid of GM100 ) one thing special about GM100 battle is there are photograph by vietminh side about the battle which was rare

a female VC was wound ( seem like in the head and the doctor are drilling her skull ) 1973 , she was treat somewhere near a small canal in Cuu Long ( or Mekong in English ) region

Thomas billhardt have a lot of nice photo about life during the war , heck I mind see my grandmother/father and my mother and her sibling in one of his photo, gona find his photo and post it here , btw morris have you been to Vietnam recent ? if you planning to visit Vietnam pls do visit it soon , the country is changing rapidly and a lot of old thing wont be here , a bad thing about being develop that you lost a lot of old thing ( aka you wont find children play tradition game on the side road anymore ( my 9x generation was the last to do so , heck even the last 9x gen didn't know about tradition game , what they know are computer game ) now day kid are playing on they phone / ipad / computer / laptop , you wont able to see high school student wearing tradition ao dai to school in few years more ( back in my day every days the student have to wear tradition ao dai to school , now day it only Monday , soon they will abolish wearing tradition dress to school and instead wearing western school girl uniform ) few more years and all the street food store will be gone just like in china ( singapore have them too but was forbidden in the 80s and put in food court ,china have street food vendor just like us up to 2000s ,now all those are forbiden and force into food court ) which the develop speed of us soon our street vendor will be put in a food court , you wont see the motor bike jam pack street in the future anymore ( the govt are gona ban them in ho chi minh city ( maybe in 2025-30) and maybe next ha noi and then other city )

It happens all over the world, that is why preserving and exhibiting old photographs and films of what use to be "just a routine life" not only extraordinary events are important.
