Tank Challenge 2018

I've opened today Ukrainian content on a Facebook and literally was slammed with posts, re-posts of what looks like a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. Apparently Ukrainian team fared miserably during the first day of competition scoring just 208 out of 500 points. The were issues with FCU and ballistic calculations for training rounds. Also, I suspect the lack of familiarity of the crews with the new tank also played a part. I don't why Ukrainians decided to use training rounds as the crews always train with live ammunition in "real life". By the way, French crews experienced the same issue, and Americans decided to use live rounds at the last moment (they were airlifted from one of the bases in Germany).

The competition started well for the Ukrainians as they scored almost perfectly on "coordinated attack" part of the competition, but later on couldn't hit a side of a barn. Going into competition, giving last year performance on ancient equipment, Ukrainians were confident of the "2nd place" at least, and now even the President of Ukraine got involved, and the maintenance and engineering personnel from Ukroboronprom are scrambling to pinpoint what went wrong.

although its already known, its alright to mess up in training so can identify the weak points. My former professor told me in MBA school. Better bleed in class, than in boardroom. I almost failed, but passed the course.
