Interesting I didn't realized the Irish Defence Force still run the 7.62 AW along side the .338 AWM system. Anyone know if this across the Inf Bn's as well or just the ARW?

We still use the AI92 in 7.62 as the default weapon for the sniper teams in the BNs alongside the .338s which are used as required.Circa 2010 a few hundred FN FALs were taken out of Strategic reserve and converted to become the the "FNSW" IE FN Spotter weapon for the No2 in the Sniper teams.However they have been plaqued with accuracy problems so their is a competition running to replace them while also introducing the same new rifle with different optics as a DMR in the Infantry sections as well as the Infantry and Cavalry RECCE Teams.
