Thanks for adding me to the group! I have been a military and naval history buff since I was a child, thanks to my dad being an aerospace engineer. I have been a volunteer at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison TX near Dallas for over 20 years, serving as a docent, gofer and doer of many things. In addition to some great planes, we also have a collection of running vehicles, including a Sherman and an M-8 armored scout car. I fly a Chinese Nanchang CJ-6A two seat trainer with my buddies, living a dream I have had since childhood.

I hope your plane is better than some junk I have seen. The early Russian space stuff looked like it was built in your garage (But it worked), and planes assembled with pop rivets (They worked too).

Hello Engineer,

The Nanchangs are flush riveted and solidly built, as you would expect for something designed to be flown and maintained relatively unskilled labor. I think they have about 20% more rivets than a typical US plane of similar capabilities, and the trailing arm landing gear make me look good on landing. The radial engine helps tick all of my warbird boxes

Cheers
Ed

Awesome list of planes - FW190 listed on website - any photos?

I heard the newer stealth stuff e.g. SU-57 or Okhotnik has the rivets sanded down a bit ;-)

Welcome aboard Ed, amazing collection there.... I'm sure there's loads of guys here calculating how far away you are for a visit

The reason I have been a volunteer there is that a lot of the planes still fly. I crew on the B-25H "Barbie III" and got to participate in the 75th Doolittle Anniversary at Wright Patterson AFB in 2017, and rode around in the M-8 a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't be that engaged if the collection just gathered dust :)

Thanks for the kind words!

Ed
