Hello I'm F.Alan Hamer son of Flt Sgt F.Alan Hamer 90 Sqn Bomber Command based at West Wickham. Shot down 23/6/43 Mulheim Raid.
I am currently researching my fathers war years & looking to complete a book titled 'Pieces of a father'. My dads Sterling Bomber D BK665 was shot down at 01.35 23/06/43 over Kehrum Germany by Nightfighter capt. Heinrich Wohlers. Pilot Flt Sgt P.C McNair plus 3 other crew members died in the crash. My father and 2 other crew baled and were captured and subsequently were transferred to stalagLuft 6 in Lithuania. Any information on the mission or anything connected greatly appreciated. I have my dads log book and POW book plus a multitude of bits and pieces, a veritable jigsaw hence the title of the book. Today is fathers day and tomorrow 77 years ago my father took off from West Wickham but did not return home . I think it fitting to be writing his story as events were unfolding high up in the dark all those years ago.
