Why Is An F-35 Sitting On The Deck Of HMS Queen Elizabeth?

One of the UK's F-35 aircraft has travelled back home on HMS Queen Elizabeth after developing a fault in the US.

A Royal Navy spokesperson said that after flight trials in the United States, one of the Lightning jets will need to undergo repair and maintenance work.

"Following completion of successful flying trials in the US, one F-35 Lightning remained embarked on HMS Queen Elizabeth in order for repair and maintenance work to be completed," the spokesperson said.

The F-35 was unable to fly home from the US because of the technical problem.

The aircraft is expected to take off from the aircraft carrier in Portsmouth and fly back to RAF Marham once the fault has been addressed.

In a tweet, HM Naval Base Portsmouth dismissed rumours suggesting the F-35 could take off on Monday.

This image is several weeks old as HMS Dauntless (on the left) now has her S1850M Long Range Radar (LRR) fitted. She's in a maintenance period before sailing in 2020 for trials and to transit up to Cammell Laird for the Power Improvement Project (PIP) to fit 3 new more powerful diesel generators in place of the existing 2 smaller ones.

HMS Diamond (on the right) is in dry dock for maintenance following a period of operations earlier this year. She will sail in the new year for trials before once again departing on operations.

Okay lads, lets play a bit of a game...... It's cold and snowy outside so what else is there to do? It's called "I SPY Scrap Workers on Ark Royal" Looking closely at this dreadful picture of our beloved HMS Ark Royal being scrapped I noticed after awhile there were scrappers (workers) among the torn up ships decks, I began looking closer and closer and I think I've found them all.....Rule: They should be reasonably decernable as human workers not just some fleeting color among the mess (I know that's some loose rules, and I'm bored, so lets play fair)
Lets see if you can find them and match my number = I've found 7
