Question? AIM-120s on the tip of F-16s` wing?

Guys, one can see AMRAAMs on the tip wing launchers of F16s, and Sidewinders on underwing pylons. Why? Siedewinders are lighter, so they would not stress wingtip during several-G manouvers. Moreover, I`ve never seen F/A-18 with AMRAAMs on theirs wingtips - so it is completely unclear for me.

The F/A-18 not having AMRAAMs in the wingtip rails might be something to do with the extra weight and the folding wings?
