A rarity for Ukrainians. A video with a story behind it in English and English subtitles.

"Sticky mud champing under the feet. The trench walls are punctured by thinner and thicker little roots, protruding like mutilated fingers and clinging to the uniform and the outfit. Grey heavy sky is overlapping Lugansk region. It is Zholobok just opposite. The trench is silent. Just the time to think about the being. Silence makes one strained and minutes are dragging out slowly. Vigilance is a prerequisite of survival...of yourself and of your war brothers. In a distance the air is slit by random machine-gun shooting. The UBGL grenade blasts nearby – and the timeline changes. Everything is suddenly rushing about. Another grenade lands at a short distance. The UBGL grenades blasts are covering the position line. The soldiers are crouching, they take their cover and open machine-gun fire. Roaring of a few bangs by grenade launcher. Here, every man knows his place and his mission, like in a play after many rehearsals. Here is a boy, of just 19 years old; he is also doing his work. He has learned something during his first months on the war. He is loading magazines with his scratched fingers, tearing off packaging of RPG boosters with his teeth. His older and more seasoned friends are engaged in the battle. Bullets are clapping above. Presents from “Utios” (large-calibre machine-gun) are whizzing like bumblebees, it has zeroed in properly from its position in Zholobok. A few large-calibre bullets hit the breastwork. The machine-gun is shooting away in his full and hot hollow cases are raining down on the hands and the helmet. The boy is continuing with his simple work. He has been raised in Donbass and has already witnessed the “Russian world” grin - that is why he is here now... The deadly ping-pong is coming down little by little. In another ten minutes there seems nothing to have happened. The machine-gun’s barrel is heating away. Now fresh belts and magazines should be filled because the next round could start in no time. Thus goes the war. Next moment after silence is set a grey cat makes its appearance, an inseparable soldier’s buddy in warfare. Caressing and purring. The fingers, black and smeared, are stroking the fluffy head".

berkut76 you always post Ukrainian casualties. If you have them can you give us the Russian casualty numbers?..Thanks! I can't find them anywhere...
So If you need at least approximate numbers on the proxy forces like collaborators, citizens of RF etc. here's this little list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ALGJAoPfBemEUh_3qBrFm0e4woBB2D2ctS_FVsWBJsU/htmlview

There's a name, date of birth, citizenship and circumstances of death with proofs, mostly screencaps from russian social network Vkontakte. Please keep in mind that this info was collected by a variety of activists and does not represent the actual numbers and can often be innacurate.

Morover, most regular russian armed forces casualties are classified info since 2015 as Berkut said already. More importantly there are not only combat casualties but also non combat in this list + quite a number of unconfirmed ones.

New Camo ??
Khishnik camo. Not exactly new, pretty standard today for National Guard special forces units like Vega or Omega also VUC.

Another pic of my "tactical GoPro" in action.

Guys, please bear in mind that in my opinion Ukrainians are very poorly equipped, including elite units. Staff that you see on videos , photos, etc. sort gives a false picture. Most of the time to make an impressive video or to send a detachment of troops to multi-national exercise assorted gear is being collected across the whole brigade.

Actually this is not uncommon for the military of many countries even in Western Europe. You mostly see the top equipment and not what is really the default wear. I mean the stuff is super-expensive.

I've been helping Ukrainian military (to be precise soldiers that I trust) since 2014. Even the basic stuff of decent quality is tough to come by. Most of the privately bought gear is actually Chinese knock offs. From what I can tell, decent optics of all kinds and levels is most in demand. Even basic red dots are mostly non-existent.

Yeah, I know how they ended up with all of this "Gucci" gear. One of the few, perhaps the only remaining "independent" unit. That being said, obviously not every soldier looks like that. However, as I've stated before all the gear that I send to Ukrainian combatants goes strictly to Ministry of Defense and SBU units. This is 2020, and I'm not onboard with "independents". Humanitarian assistance is a separate matter.

Well I did say that they are showing off, which is the case for most units and yes the only standard they have is camouflage otherwise they have a mish-mash of gear even though the unit is not big. Also as you've said the best parts of the gear - mask, rifle and Predator 4.0 system are from volunteers.

Well, the Right Sector gnerally has a very bad publicity amoung the populace, especially after the Mukachevo incident and rumours about close ties with mafia although they have differnt factions within the organization, hence the existence of VUC and VUA under the same banner. Nevertheless they (Right Sector) have a great batlle record: Piski, Airport, Avdiivka and some other places that have less publicity. Morover, as word has it their reconnaissance and diversion groups are considered to be very efficient (partly because independent), perhaps for this reason some guys from special forces seem to love them and their brave although fruitless actions were noted through the intervies with a coupple of veterans.

Of course, they closely cooperate with other frontline units. Taking that into account I'm personaly glad that they are independent, because often dependency, especially on a high command, won't get you great results and can get you killed as was proven in Debatltseve. Most importantly, I sincerely thank for your help to the forces especially in the contrast to most people out here, that don't give two sh*ts about their own army as long their a**es are comfortable.
