Three fine photos of HMS Ark Royal (R09) in what seems to be her 5th commission between 1964 and 1966. Aircraft on board are Scimitars, Sea Vixens, Gannets, and a Wessex helicopter.

In 1967, the Ark would enter Devonport for a three-year refit that would enable her to operate the F4 Phantom II (Phantom FG1).

Some more pictures of the "Béarn", first French flattop.
It was originaly a Normandie class dreadnought, who were converted into aircraft carrier before completion, launched on 15 April 1920 & commissioned on 5 December 1927. It served until the 1940s & converted into aircraft transport.

Supermarine 525 prototype (VX138) Scimitar landing aboard the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Centaur (R06), 14 June 1955. The aircraft crashed just three weeks later after the pilot was unable to recover from a flat spin.
