Handley Page Halifax B Mark II, JP321 'V', of No. 614 Squadron RAF, showing some of the many holes caused by splinters from an anti-aircraft rocket which hit the aircraft during an early pathfinding operation over central Europe. The aircraft was successfully flown back to the Squadron's base at Celone, Italy, but was struck off charge as a result of the damage. 1942

New Guinea Campaign. 9 August 1943. Australian troops on their way to the forward area near Mubo stop in at a Salvation Army tent for a cup of cocoa and biscuits. The tent is a short distance from the front lines.
Even today The "Sally Man" shows up close to the front edge of the fight to dole out a hot brew and biscuits, a friendly chat and a care for the souls of soldiers
