7 May, 1942. 2 Dakotas of No. 31 Squadron, the only transport sqn in Burma at the time, were destroyed on the ground at Myitkyina as they prepared to take off with evacuees. Flights continued later that day; a DC-2 with a capacity of 21 seats took off over 60 passengers.

Bristol Blenheim mk.1F L4514/BQ-N of no.600 squadron sit on the Dutch mudbank in Herkingen, NL. Plt Off Dickie Haine's forced landing after being shot down by Bf-110s of 3/ZG1 during the strafing raid on ju-52 base in Waalhaven on the 10 May 1940, the day of Germany invasion of France.
L4514 is one of 5 Blenheim's out of 6 be shot down. Both P/O Haine and P/O Kramer both manage to escape from Holland by HMS Hereward.
