I did a translation of feature filmstrips, it makes no sense - these filmstrips are either for political studies, or short excerpts from the military regulations. Lenin's articles in English are for sure, the military regulations of the Soviet army - I don't know.

Friends, here the Ministry of Defense of Belarus has published an awesome recording of a Soviet educational film from 1991. The film shows the process of training flamethrowers, the organization of the training camp and the conduct of shooting. Everything is interesting, from the topic itself to the equipment of the soldiers, the uniform of the 1969 model with protective mesh suits and steel helmets in camouflage worn over it. I strongly recommend that you try turning on subtitles. If anything, I can translate interesting moments.

I keep cleaning my computer. The feeling is familiar when the material seems to be not needed, but it's a pity to delete? I'll post it here, maybe someone will need it. The first is a photo of an ordinary engineer troops with experimental shoulder straps, on which plastisol letters "SA" are applied. Why are they experimental? The size of the letters is 32 mm, larger than usual. Due to the fact that this was an experimental sock, shoulder straps are not very common. The soldier with the photo is also noteworthy - in his everyday jacket he has the shoulder straps of a ceremonial jacket, and on his hat there is an old star. Most likely, this soldier is serving his second year and is about to be demobilized.

Experimental shoulder straps, 1971

In 1971, the letters "SA" were introduced on the shoulder straps of privates of the Soviet Army. They were 32 mm high and were made of aluminum on the "mustache". Difficulties constantly arose with their placement, it was not always possible to insert the letters into the shoulder straps correctly, plus the entire shoulder straps of the unloading system tore the letters out of the shoulder straps by the roots. To avoid this, a massive experiment was carried out to replace aluminum letters with plastic letters.

Interesting photo. If someone read the topic and did not forget, in the Soviet army pentagonal shoulder straps were canceled in 1969 along with the uniform of the 1955 model. However, the new uniform was not enough for everyone and for some time the soldiers wore the old one - as far as I know, in the USA there were similar problems with the transfer of the army to a new uniform. Already in 1972, the old uniform was FORBIDDEN to wear and it was used as a working one (although wide trousers-breeches of the 1955 model were very popular with old-time soldiers, they were worn unofficially, it was fashionable and prestigious).
