A KT-1 training aircraft of the Turkish Air Force, was crashed into the Aegean Sea on April 9, 2021. The MoD announced the two pilots aboard were rescued. The pilots were identified as Col. Ahmet Kendir and Lt. Col Hakan Eryılmaz. Both were in good health, except minor fractures and a bout of hypothermia. The cause of the incident was a mechanical problem, MoD authorities announced.

About 3 days later, today, the crashed aircraft was taken out of the sea by the TCG Alemdar MOSHIP of the Turkish Navy, with the help of the Search and Rescue units.
